I have an access form that gives the user the option of populating 5 fields with a barcode scanner input, but they may only need to populate 2 of the fields. Is there a way to use an if statement in those fields to add that record? This is for supply purchases, they may scan up to 5 items, but never do, its usually 2 or 3, but I have to give the option just in case. I want them to use only a scanner on this, so I have a barcode that simply inputs 9999 into whatever field they are on field... Read more ..read more

I have created an access form that uses a barcode scanner to enter data for employee supplies, they can scan up to 5 supplies per employee. What I would like to do is after they have scanned all they are issuing to the employee, to be able to scan a barcode that emulates clicking the Add Record button. I am trying to do this process with no keyboard/mouse input. Everything works perfectly if they scan 5 items to every employee because the scanner tabs after the scan, but if they only scan 2... Lock mouse wheel into main form, regardless of sub form? Or set event to focus on main form when clicking in background somewhere?

I'm trying to use the mouse wheel on a form. This only works until clicking into a sub form, which switches the mouse wheel to the sub form. Is there a way to keep or switch the mouse wheel back to the main form without clicking on a field in the main form? I read a forum post which suggested creating a textbox of height and width of 0, then in the form properties making the mouse down event to select this text box, but that is not working for me and I don't know if I typed that wrong... I've made my first Access database and watched a few hours of videos to learn how to use Access, but I've run into something that I wasn't able to figure out. I have a Table named "Bunnies" which I'll use to track each rabbit that I have in a rabbitry. Each rabbit will have a tag # on its ear, which I've called "TagNumber" in an effort to not use special characters or symbols. I then created a Form named "NewBunnyForm" to enter new information into the Bunnies Table, rather than directly... Read more ..read more

"Enter Parameter Value" for a field I've deleted! Help, please

I'm pretty much brand new at Access 2007. I have a student who has been helping me with data entry. We've done something to the form that we can't figure out and can't fix. From what she remembers, she created a new field in the wrong table and then deleted it. She then created the same field in the right table and tried to put that field in a form. Now, when we open the form, access pops up a dialog box that says "Enter Parameter Value: Annual Review Data. Inauguration Committee"... Read more ..read more

Use VBA to link a semi colon delmited csv file

Hey All I'm trying to use VBA to link a "csv" file as a table that has semi colons as a delimiter. If I use 'External Data > New Data Source > From File > Text File' and set the semi colon as the delimeter then it links as I'd expect it to do. I can get the file to link using VBA but all the data appears in one field. I've been Googling around and apparantly I needed to create a "schema.ini" file to be able to use the semi colon as a delimiter, which I've tried to do but it doesn't seem... Read more ..read more
