Safety Notice: Carve 2 and Falcon 2 PPG wings
UK Airsports
by Richard Bungay
4M ago
During a high G manoeuvre at high wing loading on a well-used Carve 2 #20, the trim webbing failed. The pilot successfully deployed their reserve. The webbing failed at the point of attachment to a square metal buckle. Gin Gliders have decided to supply a replacement riser for all Carve 2 and Falcon 2 models. The replacement riser features a 20mm carabiner instead of the square metal buckle, a more robust dyneema webbing for the trim webbing and 20mm webbing for the back-up material. Pilots should refrain from flying these gliders and contact their GIN dealer or UK Airsports to arrange to hav ..read more

The fabric piece was pulled into the elastic line loop. Despite releasing the retrieval line package, the inner container remained blocked by the fabric piece and remained closed. Skywalk promptly and comprehensively examined this scenario. The cause could have been a packing error. Nevertheless, Skywalk has chosen to release a safety notice to eliminate any risk. What to do? The inner container can ..read more

SAFETY NOTICE: SALSA reserve inner container elastic
UK Airsports
by Patrick Holmes
1y ago
During regular quality control checks, we noticed that a few SALSA rescue systems had a 4 mm elastic installed on the inner container instead of a 3 mm elastic. The strength of the elastic and it’s elasticity determine how high the force must be to open the inner container and thus release the rescue chute. During the review of this, the reserves were drop tested with a 4 mm elastic closing loop, all rescue chutes were properly released and opened as expected, however, increased friction was noticed.
