But the huge mural, with its dozens of children sitting in neat rows, actually tells the story of not one, but of 100 years of graduating classes from nearby Islington Junior Middle School. The faces are real. From the earliest Irish immigrant children to the rich multicultural mix which the area boasts today, the images have been drawn f ..read more

Corberrie Baie Sainte-Marie Scallop Recipe : a Taste of Nova Scotia
Roamancing Travel Magazine » Canada
by Erica Hargreave

Join me as I play with the flavours, local produce and culinary products of Nova Scotia in my cooking, beginning with those foraged for in Baie Sainte-Marie on Nova Scotia’s Acadian Shores. In this first recipe in this series, we will be making Corberrie Baie Sainte-Marie Scallops, which have me wanting to plan a return trip to Nova Scotia, just so I can make more with the freshest of ingredients from Comeau’s Farm Market. As my niece would say, “Yummy, yummy in my tummy!” One of my great loves in travel is to experience culture through the food of a place. While yes, this means I love to ind ..read more

Adventures Between the Tides at Mavillette Beach Provincial Park on Baie Sainte-Marie

As I sat on the stone steps leading down to Mavillette Beach Provincial Park on Baie Sainte-Marie that first night, with a simple and absolutely delicious supper of soul warming clam rappie pie and a salad of fresh, local greens and delectable strawberries from Comeau’s Farm Market, listening to the tide rolling in, I knew I was home, at least for a spell. This is what I’d driven across Canada, from coast to coast for, for the way that Nova Scotia sings to my soul and calms me down. As I enjoyed my first of many beautifully relaxing sunsets from that same spot for the week, I raised my glass o ..read more

A Night Under the Stars with my Cat in Grasslands National Park’s West Block near Val Marie, Saskatchewan

One of my favourite things about driving across Canada is the ability to visit and sleep in some of the magnificent and diverse parks that Canada has to offer. While we are fortunate to have parks accessible in our cities, there are so many others that you need your own transportation to get to (unless of course you sign up for a tour). Grasslands National Park near Val Marie, Saskatchewan, bordering on the US State of Montana is one such park. Grasslands National Park – Frenchman Valley I first encountered Grasslands National Park as I mapped out a route and possible parks stops for a cross C ..read more

That air travel becomes unnecessarily stressful for travellers when the airline fails to communicate effectively with their travellers or consider their experience in a respectful manner. Weary travellers having waited at this point nearly 6 hours for WestJet Assistance at YYC on December 18th, 2022. This was before the storms hit. This is what happen in Calgary International Airport (YYC) Sunday morning, December 18th, 2022 for many trave ..read more
