March 4th 2024 – Figuring out what the weather will do is no science, it’s more like a magic 8 ball. Fall Is In The Air Fishing In Key West
Key West Fishing Report
by Capt. Steven Lamp
7M ago
September 5th 2023 – Just stepping outside it takes about three breaths of fresh air to realize fall is in the air here in Key West. After a near miss by Hurricane Idalia the fall like weather has dropped humidity and cool things off for the time being with a good bit of rain and some Easterly Winds. Key West Fishing Report When we get a blow the first places to be affected are the shallows and they were affected in a positive way. Cooling down the water temps really helped, not that the fishing sucked in the backcountry and on the flats before the winds and rain because it didn’t. Now it will ..read more

Where Is All The Sargassum
Key West Fishing Report
by Capt. Steven Lamp
8M ago
August 2 2023 – Where is all the sargassum weed they were talking about on the news back in April and May?? We were supposed to be covered up in it.. The reefs were going to die and the beaches were going to be stacked up miles deep in the stuff sending folks home with respiratory issues. They must have saved us from it because we sure are not seeing much weed deep sea fishing here off of Key West. This was a random area of large clumps of weed from what we saw yesterday. These were holding some smaller fish. Deep Sea Fishing Report Its good.. There are plenty of mahi out there with some wahoo ..read more

Tarpon In July
Key West Fishing Report
by Capt. Steven Lamp
9M ago
July 16th 2023 – Tarpon fishing in July. The heat is on! For sure here in Key West. Hottest summer we have seen in a long time, if ever. The water is crystal clear but rather warm with temperatures in the backcountry islands and on the flats reaching the low 90s in some places that the flow is cut off at low tide even hotter. Tarpon Fishing Here in Key West we are having one of the better tarpon fishing seasons we have had in a few years. I will not say it was “back to normal” however it was pretty good. As we slide into July the tarpon fishing usually slows down a good bit and this year is no ..read more

June 23 2023 – The Gulf Stream is close and our deep sea fishing off Key West is picking up. The weather is amazing with light winds and super hot days. Deep Sea Fishing Report Heading offshore this time of year is typically a long run to get into the mahi mahi. Not this week. The Gulf Stream is bringing us loads of treats with mahi mahi and the occasional wahoo right into 350 – 400 ft of water. On board the INXS this week we had some great trips with catches of plenty of Mahi and some nice wahoo. Working mostly in 400 ft of water the fish have been found under birds. We tried to move a little ..read more

Key West Fishing Report
by Capt. Steven Lamp

The first week in May and the Key West tarpon season is in full swing. May has begun with some beautiful weather this week. Love it or hate it the full moon is at the end of this week and that will have its affect both good and bad. The ten-day forecast shows mixed winds little bit of a breeze coming through on the weekend then back to normal next week. Temps are down currently but that will soon change. All in all it looks like a perfect May for some great backcountry fishing for tarpon and many other species.
