One of the side benefits of electric vehicles, apart from zero tailpipe emissions while driving and the ability to charge at home, is the exceptionally quiet driving experience. This can help create a more soothing and hushed environment for drivers and passengers when on the move, which can in turn have benefits on their wellbeing. To highlight this, we sent our electric Mustang Mach-E 1 to the beautiful roads of Majorca where we filmed its journey for two hours. Collaborating with acclaimed British DJ and music producer, Daniel Avery, we then added a bespoke soundscape to help capture t ..read more

With Africa, Australia, Asia, South America and North America complete, Lexie returns to Europe for the final leg, starting in Norway with Nice, France the final destination. Before the driving even starts though, Lexie visits ice swimming expert Anne Möller for a dip in the icy waters of Oslo. It’s the coldest water she has even been in and faces it with trepidation, yet she takes to it like a pro… and quickly realises what a great cure for jet lag it is. Once warmed up, Lexie and the Explorer head south, leaving Norway and then making the significant drive down the Swedish coastline. Th ..read more

One of the great things about travelling the globe is trying out the many different foods, and as Chicago is famous for its deep dish pizza Lexie wasted no time in trying it out. Was it as good as the pizza she had near the beginning of this world trip in Naples, Italy though? It was certainly better than the tarantula she ate in Cambodia. Chicago comes and goes all too soon, with Lexie keen to head back to the Windy City to explore more in the future. For now, a 480 km journey awaits the Explorer as they point east to the hometown of Ford, Detroit. Detroit is famous for its strong auto ..read more

After Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia and South America, Lexie is finally back on her home soil of the United States of America. From the familiarity of Los Angeles, where Lexie worked as an airport chauffeur when she was still a teenager, she points the Explorer towards the glitz of Las Vegas, passing iconic scenery along the way. While the comfort of familiarity and excitement of exploring more of her home country are setting up the US leg to be a memorable one, there are also the challenges of ice-cold conditions and huge climbs into mountains ahead to contend with.  There’s ..read more

After the spectacular arid landscapes of Chile and the charging issues Lexie encountered there, Argentina was expected to provide some relief. The fascinating landscape continues across the border with a stunning location for her check in with the RecordSetter yellow jacket, before the Explorer is pointed towards San Miguel de Tucuman and onwards to the town of Loreto. And it’s clear her troubles aren’t over yet. A lack of charging infrastructure there means further reliance on domestic charging, which is naturally much slower. Lexie makes the strategic decision to stay in the agric ..read more

Ford News Europe Blog

Asia had been a vibrant and colourful adventure, now Lexie and the Ford Explorer head into the fifth continent of the journey with a very different prospect looming large; Chile’s arid Atacama Desert. The desert is the driest nonpolar desert on the planet and has been an experimentation site for Mars expedition simulations due to its similarities with the Martian environment. Leaving the bustling city of Santiago, the striking beauty of the surrounding mountains immediately hits, as does a sense of anxiety about the lack of charging infrastructure in the almost 500 kilometres journey ..read more
