It’s no secret that some of the benign, everyday tasks are a little bit more difficult with autistic kiddos than neurotypical kids. One of Harrison’s biggest challenges is people touching his hair, ears, and face. Haircuts are a battle but getting better over time with practice. But the doctor and the dentist are a much bigger challenge.
We’ve been, obviously lol, working on teeth brushing for years. I have to physically hold Harrison in my arms, with his hands in one hand and the tooth brush in the other, to brush his teeth everyday. It’s still a problem at 6 years old. Clearly that wasn’t br ..read more

Hide and Seek – pretty self explanatory yet still the best game to play as a kid
Duck Duck Goose – make the classic game even more fun by using a bucket of water to dump on the head
Kick the Can – Essentially a hybrid of hide and seek and tag. One person is designated as “it” and a can or bucket is placed in the middle of the playing area. The other players run and hide while “it” covers their eyes and counts. Then “it” goes to find the hiders. If you are found and tagged, you go to jail at the can. If an un-tagged player can run up and kick the can without being tagged by “it”, then everyone ..read more

I have tried anything and everything to get my hair to grow back after thyroid hair loss. All of them unsuccessful. So ya girl has extensions. Not just a few clip ins here and there either. I have a full on weave of sewn in weft extensions. 3 full rows of fake hair running the entire circumference of my hairline. I’ve had them for years now, and here’s all the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way

We all saw our mom’s go through it – the dreaded “change”, and thought it was the end of life as we knew it. At least the end of our youth. And menopause has always been something in the far future, not something that could actually happen to us right now. And then you wake up one day and you’re 37 and your’re perimenopausal Yes fam, ya girl has started menopause.
Before I delve into this topic, you should all know this about me – I have thyroid disease, which is a hormonal disease. And when you have a disease that drastically effects your hormones, it’s not uncommon to start normal lifetime ..read more

Yoga – the workout you can do literally anywhere. No equipment required. Don’t have a mat? No problem, use towels, a blanket, or just the floor. No teacher? No problem, youtube has tons of free classes.
HIIT – High intensity interval training, or HIIT, incorporates rounds that alternate between several minutes of high intensity movements followed by short periods of lower intensity movements or rest. Body weight can be used as the main form of resistance so that additional equipment is not needed. HIIT workouts also generally do not require a large amount of space, making the format ideal for ..read more

We all get a little bit of seasonal depression, some of us just more than others. And whether it’s the cold temps or way-too-early sunsets that got you down, I have the remedy for you (I hope )
Get up and get moving – This one’s just pure science. It’s medically proven that exercise, in any form, increases production of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the brain. These neurotransmitters, or endorphins, are directly responsible for our mental health and level of “happiness”.
Learn a new hobby – keeping the brain engaged keeps boredom and depression away! Lol. Well, it at least helps ..read more
