What’s kept me coming back to MagiRevo has been its relentlessly optimistic outlook on life and the world. Though the skies grow dark and the clouds loom grey on the horizon, this show refuses to give up believing that happiness will break through and bring light. No matter how far Euphie withdraws into herself, no matter how much Anis runs away from others’ love, they will never be alone. No matter how corrupt this kingdom is, it can be redeemed.
That’s the hope spurring this magical revolution onward. And in this final episode, we see that hope beginning to blossom at last.

(1) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (63.3%) def. (7) Bleach (36.7%)
(2) Demon Slayer (55.5%) def. (8) Re:Zero (44.5%)

Bocchi the Rock! was not only one of 2022’s most critically acclaimed series—it was also incredibly popular. It’s been a surprisingly strong competitor in its first AniMarch Madness tournament for us and has been one of the most popular new anime for the fanart artists at Pixiv. In fact, Bocchi herself is so popular that her own series can’t seem to contain her! Here are two recent pieces where Bocchi-chan has crossed over into other anime: K-On and Lycoris Recoil.

The Sweet Sixteen is complete and we’re on to the Endless Eight! Er, the Elite Eight! No, no endless loop here, folks. Your votes over the next 24 hours will determine which of these eight series move on to Monday’s Final Four matchups!
And boy, are these matches today a doozy! Three #1 seeds made it through, including newcomer Spy x Family, while just one number two made it (Demon Slayer). Cinderella stories abound, including Bleach (7), Re:Zero (8), and the biggest surprise of all, Bocchi the Rock (11), which did the improbably and took down Chainsaw Man last round. Even Kaguya-sama is a sur ..read more

The arc that properly introduced us to the amazing cast of Naruto characters is still a great watch today, and not just because of its action and humor. The “Chunin Exams” arc of Naruto is filled with inspirational stories and even further, models of how one should be living out a life of faith. Paris, Tyler, and Mike leap into action this week as they chat about faith and their favorite ninjas (and play a couple of ninja games while they’re at it, too). Believe it!

A quick glance at our Reader’s Corner selections for this post, many of which are debuting today, reveals part of the reason why manga continues to grow in popularity. The variety of stories being told through these releases is breathtaking. From a young woman reliving her yesterday a thousand times to a food truck running in a post-apocalyptic world, and from a girl who is fighting back against her dependence on the night to the final volume of a time-traveling shoujo series about depression and death, this week’s reviews show the breadth of the form’s creativity. “I guess I had to learn there is no freedom without love”
– “Without Love” (Vinland Saga Season 2 ending theme), LMYK
Canute and Thorfinn are as far apart on the spectrum of Viking life as can be. Canute is the King of England: powerful, respected, and seemingly at the height of his leadership. Thorfinn is a defeated warrior who has lost his position, family, and freedom, and has been reduced to literal slavery in the lands over which Canute’s family rules. And yet, despite their differing political standing and life situations, the two are faced with the same choices in episodes 9 and 10. Ca ..read more
