So many publishers are now looking towards the Webtoon and mobile comic publishing world for ideas on what to license. We’ve had many comics from Webtoon, Tapas, and now Tappytoon get licensed by larger publishers for their own print editions. I’m actually really happy about this because many of these apps can be a little expensive and sometimes frustrating to use. So whe ..read more

When I was looking through some upcoming releases from Yen Press last month, this one kind of stood out from the rest with its interesting concept that sounded just a little bit odd. I want to thank Yen Press for sending me this advanced copy because once I got to sit down to read it, I found I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Hamada manages to combine art, food ..read more

Publisher: Seven Seas Entertainment, Hiveworks
Genre: Fantasy, Romance
Tropes: Hades & Persephone retelling, mythology, grumpy-sunshine

I’ve always been a fan of Hades and Persephone retellings. I’ve reviewed quite a few on my blog including Lore Olympus, Neon Gods, A Touch of Darkness, and many more. There’s something about the myth of Hades and Persephone that simultaneously captivates people and frustrates them in equal amounts. Insta-love, kidnapping, angry mothers causing drama, and meddling gods. It creates quite an interesting basis for a story, one that many people have drawn ..read more

I’ve gotten back into Webtoons recently, after seeing some recommendations pop up and others appear as printed editions in my comics shop. After reading through a few romance comics for the past couple days, I’ve picked three I think everyone should keep on their radar this year. There are definitely more, and I might make another post at a future date, but right now these are my picks to read. Check them out and let me know what you think!

Mangaka: Sarasa Nagase, Anko Yuzu, Mitsuya Fuji
Publisher: Yen Press
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Adventure, Comedy
Tropes: Second-chance life, Dragons, Magic, enemies-to-lovers, betrayal

One of the story types I usually don’t find myself interested in reading are do-over stories, or stories where the main character is sent back in time after dying to have a second chance at life. Maybe there’s just something about the main character knowing everything that’s going to happen that makes it uninteresting for me? I’m not quite sure, but I’m kind of glad I gave this one a chance. I think that th ..read more

Mangaka: Iroto Tsumugi, Kori Hisakawa, Airumu
Publisher: Kadokawa
Genre: Regency, Romance, Drama
Tropes: Arranged Marriage, enemies-to-lovers, Virgin love
Spice: 3/5

Looking through Bookwalker recently, I found what sounded like a manga with an interesting concept being released in a chapter-by-chapter fashion. I’ve been really looking for some good regency or fantasy romance for a while. Those seem to be the genres I’m most stuck on right now when it comes to manga. And when you read regency romance, most of the time you’ll get an arranged marriage scenario, which I also happen to like ..read more

If you’re active in the romance scene, you’ve probably heard of Ali Hazelwood. She is probably the most well known for her book The Love Hypothesis which gained a lot of notoriety for its depiction of women in STEM. It also gained a lot of attention because it is basically Star Wars fanfiction with the setting and characters changed. Ali Hazelwood has a type and tropes she loves to use, as can be seen in pretty much every one of her books, but they still remain some of the best comfy reads. Easy to get through and loved by her fans.
Bride is her most recent book, published just this past Febr ..read more

This is a sponsored review. I was contacted by Andrews McMeel Publishing and given an advanced review copy.
Ilona Andrews is a particularly famous author-duo (a husband and wife team) in the urban fantasy genre, with their Kate Daniels series that currency sits at 14 books, the first book publishing back in 2007. They have a couple other major series, one of them being The Innkeeper Chronicles, Clean Sweep being the first book. The book was originally adapted on Tapas in a serial format by ChrossxXxRodes and Shinju Ageha and is now being collected into a graphic novel by Andrews McMeel ..read more

Collecting has always been a part of the book buying practice. People love showing love for the things that they love. It’s just how humans work. I know I have been sucked in a time or two into buying signed copies of books I’ve already read or looking at getting special edition hard covers for some of my favorite series. However, I think there is a new trend among specifically the Fantasy and Fantasy Romance publishers that has me worried for the future.
Bonus content has always been a part of the writing and publishing process. Fans love to see little short stories and in-depth looks ..read more

For anyone who, like me, sometimes gets confused with all the acronyms being thrown around in the romance community, I figured I’d try to put together something of a list for people. These are not the totality of the acronyms you may come across, but are some of the most used ones. If you find one that is not listed here, I would love it if you could post it in the comments!
