Here’s a lowdown on some of our recent on-the-ground advocacy work: Advocating for action to be taken to deal with the problem of motorbikes and other illegal vehicles on the shared path network. The state government has formed a steering group to come up with a strategy for action which WestCycle is part of, and will meet in early May. Micromobility and Freight PATREC project. Join us for a National Road Safety Week seminar to hear directly from City of Vincent CEO David MacLennan about why the City of Vincent reduced the speed limit on their local streets, how they did it, and what the feedback has been. In response to community requests for safer streets, the City of Vincent recently succeeded in permanently reducing the speed limit on their local access roads to 40km/h. Upcoming work in Attadale Reserve

From 8 April 2024, Water Corporation will be undertaking work in the Attadale Reserve, close to the shared path. The work will take place between 7am and 6pm weekdays, and last for three months.  This is to upgrade pumps and relocate an electrical switchboard, related to the safe management of waste water disposal. WA’s best junior bike riders gave the new Mooro-Beeloo Bridge BMX and Mountain Bike Facility the thumbs up as the $1m facility was officially opened by Transport Minister and Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti MLA this morning.   World under-12 BMX champion, Amelie Reid, and 15-year-old State track champ, Cooper Dunlop, praised the track’s design and flow. “It’s brilliant fun for all kinds of riders,” said Amelie. “I can imagine coming here to practice.”   “It feels good to ride it,” said Cooper. “It’s a pretty sick track actually.”   ‘Massive demand’ for bike ..read more

WA government commits $300,000 a year for the next three years with $5000-$50,000 grants available. The WA Government is not resting on its laurels when it comes to the State’s world class trails network, with a fresh round of trail planning grants announced worth almost $1 million over the next three years.
