I bet this is going to be too early to do something like this, but I just have to. Episode one of Ultraman Blazar came out recently and this has to be one of my favorite first episodes for an Ultraman show. Considering how much Ultraman I binged through since the beginning of Covid, I’ve certainly have racked up some great experience and knowledge of this franchise in less than five years. It is also important that the recent last years of Trigger and Decker were certainly interesting shows to look at with how they tried to emulate the Ultras of the Heisei era into the New Generation mindset ..read more

The Toku Fans Who Create Media

This is certainly something I have been digging at for a while and while at my last con, Zenkaikon 2023. I had an idea of wanting to do my own panel next year and obviously Tokusatsu would be my topic. It is the thing I have been keeping up with for over a decade and at this point I have so much personal experience along with good basic research and understanding. I also remembered being asked about anything towards Tokusatsu with the facts that it just keeps popping up as influences or as references in other media. I even get asked about how it evolves over time and if it follows any other tr ..read more

Ultraman 80: Now That’s What I Call Ultraman Vol. 80

I know my post of Ultraman Taro was not that long ago. I will admit me having this Ultraman speed run is very much because of these official releases are so helpful with me taking so much off a backlog. On top of that this is my last look into the original universe of Ultraman and the Showa Era itself (unless you want to count the anime). I will return to No More Heroes 3, but there is and I do mean there is a lot to rack my brain on with that. Funny enough I did find a fun little possible connection with this show and No More Heroes so that’s another thing that is so hard about NMH3 is that a ..read more

Ultraman Taro: The Biggest Step Into The Ultra Fantasy

Ultraman has been a franchise known heavily for its science fiction elements. The franchise started with Ultra Q and were mini-Kaiju stories or even horror inspired tales. When Ultraman was first created the show was titled as both a science fiction and fantasy adventure. UltraSeven then decided to focus more on those science fiction elements. After that the franchise decided to stick to the mixture, but it was easily sticking to more of the science fiction. For the fifth hero show in this franchise a new idea came to make the next show into more of a heavier fantasy show. Even the origin of t ..read more

No More Heroes 3: A Violent Look Into No More Heroes Part 1 (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Well, here we are again, back to more of No More Heroes 3 and the beginning of looking into the big picture of it all. Previously in the last analysis for this game, I focused on the characters and even the creator himself, Suda 51 with what they were doing to their lives. Travis finally felt like he is more free than usual, and his creator focused on just having the life he always wanted. FU and Damon were violently destroying their lives while living fantasies that can never come true, one of a hero and another with a utopia. Then Suda 51 possibly getting his mantra back as loud as he possib ..read more

Tokusatsu For the Suda 51 Fan Part 4: Choukou Senshi Changerion

Parody and satire are never an easy art form to practice with. There are many forms of it where they can easily be confused with many other things in the big circle of media. There are even times where a film can be considered parody when that was never its full intention. The worst fate a parody or satire can have been that it falls flat on its face where it never connects with anyone since no one got the joke. This would sadly be the fate of the show called Changerion, a 1996 Tokusatsu one off series with Toshiki Inoue as the head writer. Inoue is quite a big name for many fans and while som ..read more

No More Heroes 3 How You Build Your Life Finale: Suda 51 (SPOILER ALERT FOR TSA AND NMH3)

This analysis of how characters are taking their lives into new directions as certainly taken a new direction for sure. You can clearly see by the title we are not talking about some video game character this time. I am here to talk about the game creator himself, Suda 51. Getting to this point simply came to be because I just was on Discord and saw Ghenry talking about AdrianVG seeing how this third entry had some possible hotshots or some sort of self-parody to the second mainline game. This was during the time I was typing up part two with Damon and FU and I did have previous thoughts of ho ..read more

Welcome back to a series where I am basically tackling the idea of recommending the vast amount of Tokusatsu shows to the Suda 51 fanbase. Last time we investigated what media has affected or just coincidentally have similarities to the games he has created thus far. Now in the continuation of this series, we have reached the actual show recommendations. Some shows will be brought back up, but this time I will be trying to sell anyone on why they should watch a show if they are a fan of something like No More Heroes for example. Speaking of the biggest name for Grasshopper, we are talking abou ..read more

Welcome to the beginning of a series of post where I look into two of my favorite things. The live action franchises of Japan and the wonderful insanity that is the mind of Suda 51. It is not that surprising that another Japanese man working in the entertainment industry has been making references to shows like Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and even more. There have been many big names in the industry that take inspiration from shows they were obviously watching from their youth. We have Hideaki Anno with his love for the genre to the point he not only made Shin Godzilla, but getti ..read more

Okay, first I want to give a really big personal update on what the hell happened with me and pretty much a near half year long hiatus. One, I think that Ultra binge I did at the beginning of the year was pretty big. Second, I had to adjust to new things happening at work and that caused a lot of stress to creep on me and just explode in my head. Third, I have been typing, but just been having a hard time finishing things. I guess a final one could be that, I got distracted while trying to cope with stress like watching new show or keep up with games especially before No More Heroes 3 comes ou ..read more
