Mississauga is having a major moment – and one that’s here to stay.
Once holding space in Toronto's shadow, today, Mississauga holds its own under the spotlight. And fittingly, a handful of shiny new transit-oriented communities — including Liberty Development’s Canopy Towers — are not only redefining the Mississauga skyline, but rewriting what it means to live there.
The future of Mississauga is one where a car is no longer necessary, retail and restaurants are thriving, and compact and convenient communities offer all the trappings of modern urban living.
And rising to meet this refreshed ..read more

There's a new phase rising at Liberty Development's Canopy Towers master-planned community, and the condominium may just offer the best value available on the Hurontario LRT.
Phase II of Canopy Towers, aptly named Canopy Towers 2, will be comprised of two sleek condominium buildings — one 38 storeys, the other 21 — joined together by a 6-storey podium.
Suites start at $389,900 — inarguably a competitive price for a condo in the GTA, never mind one that's this cool, this contemporary, and this conveniently located.
And the suave new build couldn't be more conveniently located, situated where ..read more

As the Vandyk Group of Companies continues to come apart at the seams, real estate investors will soon have their pick of the development group's portfolio.
Earlier this month, the Ontario courts granted formal approvals for the sales of eight Vandyk-affiliated sites across the Greater Toronto Area, including The King's Mill, 41 Wabash, and Grand Central Mimico (in Toronto), UPtowns and Heart Lake (in Brampton), and The Ravine and Lakeview DXE Club (in Mississauga).
The eighth site named in the court documents is a numbered company referred to as 2495065 Ontario Inc., which appears to be ass ..read more

As Vice President of Planning and Development for one of the largest ongoing real estate developments in the Greater Toronto Area, Christina Giannone is incredibly familiar with what it takes to actually get something built.
But that wasn't always her plan.
Despite growing up in a family in the home-building business, Giannone says she initially planned to go into marketing and advertising, even obtaining a business degree from the University of Toronto. But after a chance opportunity had her step into a role on the development side, she's never looked back.
Giannone now oversees the gargant ..read more

When it comes to high-rise condo launches in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) this year, the market has been pretty quiet. In fact, until just a few days ago, it hadn't made a single peep.
On Friday, developer Greenpark Group launched sales for their 25-storey Richmond Hill development, Evelyn Condos at Rise & Rose, but prior to this, there hadn't been a high-rise condo launch in what is now almost the first two months of the year. Anyone familiar with the development cycle knows that the colder winter months can be quiet — but they're never this quiet.
In fact, Elliott Taube, Principal at ..read more

Students returning to Sheridan College in 2022, after two years of pandemic-induced remote learning, were greeted with a brand new (and partially opened) student hub on the Mississauga campus. By 2023, the sleek, modern, five-storey building was fully opened, filling a wide gap in students' social lives — one that was dug out as learning shifted online and fellow classmates became another Zoom box on a screen.
Located at the southwest corner of Rathburn Road West and Duke of York Boulevard, just south of Highway 403, the building is the third on Sheridan's Mississauga campus, and is the only ..read more

It's been a tough year for the Greater Toronto Area housing market, with both sale volumes and sale prices taking a tumble. Amidst higher interest rates and increasing unaffordability, many would-be buyers moved to the sidelines in 2023, wanting to hold off on purchasing plans until rates come back down.
As a result, sales slipped, and prices followed.
Home sales in the GTA totalled just 65,982 for 2023 — a 12.1% decline from 2022 — according to new data from the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB).
The number of new listings observed a similar trend, falling in 2023 compared to 2022 ..read more

As the cooler weather set in, home sales in the Greater Toronto Area saw yet another month of decline in November, according to the latest data from the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB).
A total of 4,236 home sales were reported in the GTA last month, which not only marked an 8.8% drop from October's numbers, but a 6% decline compared to November 2022. When adjusted for seasonality, as activity tends to drop off in the winter, sale numbers actually saw slight improvement from October, TRREB said.
High borrowing costs, uncertain economic conditions, and a general lack of affordabili ..read more
