Hi all, as the title suggests I'm looking for any tips or tricks that may apply to Kenyan coffee. I realise it may be a long shot, but consistently I cannot seem to figure out how to get the best out of my favourite origin!
Any patterns, trends, speculation, random comments would all be appreciated ..read more

I'd previously roasted this bean with my homemade fluid bed roaster, but this was the first time with the Hottop B2K+. (I have the Hottop connected to an old schoolies Windows 10 Thinkpad, and manage the roast with Artisan)
My aim here was a medium roast in 10mins. It's not the prettiest bean as this one is unscreened, so you do end up with a mottly range of colours. The reason I went for a shorter roast time was so as to not over-roast the smaller beans. I very rarely roast further than a medium as I find that the subtle nuances of the bean will start to disappear. I was quite surprised when ..read more

HI all. I'm in the process of accumulating info and guides for home roasting on a Behmor 1600. I was excited to pick up one on the threads here recently, so down the rabbit hole I go! Man - there's an awful lot of info about the Behmor out there! It's hurting my head. The above thread is pretty helpful.
Having been in touch with Andy about some Behmor parts, and whilst I'm working through some unit maintenance, Andy suggested India Elephant Hills AA as a "noob" bean. I've got 5kg inbound, as we go through at least 700g/week at home, and I ..read more

Hi legends!
Long time roaster / follower. Amazed and thankful for all advice i've read which has led to my love of home roasting and trying new coffee.
I have a Behmor - and im strugling to find a great combo for the Yemen Mokha Ismaili. The little buggers seem to want to take on a huge amount of heat before cracking.
I usually have 350g of the 400 / P1 setting. (I hit D, start and then roast by feel on first crack)... It works a treat for pretty much everything except these loveable little guys.
Has anyone else tried a different setting? I've dropping a few extra grams...
Thanks in advance ..read more

After a few years cooling my roasted coffee with a home made cooler (out of a bathroom fan and a bucket), I have decided to go for a proper cooler. The real reason behind this move is my relocation to an inner city dwelling with only a balcony and cannot afford to have residue chaff flying everywhere in the back yard like now. My favourite Ethiopia Shakisso Estate is still so chaffy at the end of the roast, with a lot of fine chaff mixed in with the beans. The new cooler is supposed to pull this chaff into its fine mesh to be cleaned out
The cooler arrived today and upon setting it up, my exc ..read more
