Though I was on the shores of the Pamlico River in Washington, N.C., when Brian Forehand drove an Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SV 43 model into history with his 180.464 mph kilometer record, I did not recall that today is the 10th anniversary of that amazing feat. Virginia’s Mark Tuck, who did the much of the work required to organize the record attempt, reminded me and speedonthewater.com co-publisher Jason Johnson this morning via text message. Caught in the act of making V-bottom history—Brian Forehand piloted the Outerlimits SV 43 into the record books. As it happened, 2014 was the bes ..read more

They came from Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, Michigan and Massachusetts—and even just across the Sunshine State in Fort Lauderdale. Dam Boat Run At Lake Murray In Strong Comeback Mode
Speed on the Water Magazine
by Matt Trulio
19h ago
Any event will fade into obscurity if its organizers and participants lose steam and it falls out of the spotlight, and that’s exactly what was happening with a longtime go-fast powerboat run on South Carolina’s Lake Murray. By 2022, the event had dwindled to approximately 30 boats. Its future looked bleak. The owner of this molten-hot 42-foot MTI catamaran, New York’s Bill Sestak was the first person to register for the 2024 Dam Boat Run At Lake Murray. A passionate performance-boat fan and the owner of Columba, S.C.-based Carolina Home Improvements, Bret Laso couldn’t stand to see that happ ..read more

Since speedonthwater.com launched 15 years ago, we’ve published at least one “Image Of The Week” each week (go figure) on the website. And of the more than 100 such images we’ve published featuring a Skater Powerboats catamaran, most have been of the high-flying or high-speed action kind. Rarely will you see two Skater catamarans “running” side by side as slowly as they are in this photo captured by Fallon Thibodeaux. But there is one particularly notable exception. Regardless of which brand of catamaran he chooses, they are marketing vehicles for Devin Wozencraft. OK, so he does enjoy running them. Call it an occupational perk.
