Lifestyle Newborn Session Near Seattle, WA | Older Sibling Expections

The absolute sweetest little duo at my newborn session a few weeks ago near Kirkland WA. Quick note about older sibs at newborn sessions: they are likely to act a little different. Maybe more bouncy, maybe more silly, maybe more shy. That is totally normal and ok. That’s MY expectation. I don’t assume to meet an older sibling who acts like everything is normal when they have 1. A new sibling 2. A new routine 3. A lady they don’t know in the house lol! A lot of parents say “well this was very different than our first baby’s session” but it’s so normal for it to feel perhaps like a whirlwind ..read more

I had a very special session last month for a family to honor their little love Luna. As a photographer, capturing this in way that felt joyful was quite important. We lucked out with the prettiest weather and a lovely little moon (so fitting for a session for a Luna) peeking down on us. They brought lovely flowers and a golden moon balloon which caught the sun in the loveliest way. Auntie and Uncle joined in and it was such a beautiful hour we spent together. A note from Luna’s mama who, along with her husband, have made themselves available to other parents in grief. I loved what she says ..read more

I often teach other photographers who are in growth mode about marketing and defining their artistry. I often talk about defining your artistry in such a way that you are not a service provider. In the beginning, you may feel like a service provider because you don’t have a defined method, a speciality, a style or a process. However, as you form those things, you will also feel yourself building a protective wall around the way you love to create. If you allow people to push the wall down and force you back into service provider-ship, you’ll feel so full of resentment that you’ll want to pop ..read more

What do you do if you fear you miss the newborn window? You don’t worry at all! We can still get sweet + snuggly moments with babies older than 6 weeks. But let’s chat about the styling of this session because I loved it so much. About two years ago, I wrote a blogpost titled “not sure what to wear to your newborn session? Just wear white!” And I know white, or neutrals for that matter aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but here’s why I love it as a styling choice: 1. It’s timeless. Prints and trends come and go but a white tee or sweater and jeans will be in style forever. 2. Here in the PNW, in ..read more

Five years ago, I discovered a magical place on one of my many adventures location scouting near Seattle. I feel so lucky to live in a place with so many location choices from our rugged coast to these wildflower hills in Wenatchee. The time has come to snag a spot at this short lived location. The flowers only bloom for a short time! Yes, there will be plenty of time to appreciate the local critter and bug population. The colors here are pretty hard to beat and just like all my sessions, I will be on hand to help with styling! You don’t have to go barefoot like this brave kiddo but I am al ..read more

Springtime in Wenatchee, Washington, is a breathtaking spectacle of nature’s renewal. As the winter chill recedes, vibrant wildflowers blanket the landscape, painting the valleys with hues of purple, yellow, and pink. In April, May and June I have the pleasure of venturing into these painted hills with families up for the adventure. Every year, it is a scene straight out of a storybook. In between shots, we took moments to pause and soak in the beauty that surrounded us. It a bit like being in a scene in a movie and a greatI reminder of the simple pleasures that springtime brings- most impor ..read more
