Kirkland Nursery Reveal Today, I’m excited to share our Kirkland Nursery project with you. A few months ago, our clients came to us with a problem: to create an adaptable space that could evolve over time as their child grew. We set out to solve this through the use of flexible furnishings, pieces that can be used in different ways over time. We incorporated a crib that converts into a toddler bed, a neutral colored dresser with clean, simple lines, and textiles with simple prints. Design tip: With furnishings, generally the more simple the piece, the more flexibility it has. Opt ..read more

Lockhaven Remodel: Master Bath Before/After Last year, I started designing a master bathroom in the Interbay neighborhood of Seattle and am excited to share the reveal with you today! With this remodel, we wanted to create a serene and modern retreat that blended with the other rooms across the home, including the master bedroom next door. Originally, the materials in the bathroom were traditional in aesthetic, so we gutted everything and started from scratch. I knew it was important to add natural light (there was very little to start) so we created a layout to add them along an ..read more

4 Tips to Make a Small Space Appear Larger As part of our newest project, we also designed the living room next door. The room presented a unique challenge: it was narrow and received a lot of indirect light, so we needed to find a way to make it appear more open. In its original state, the room had a lot of beige, so we started by brightening the walls with a neutral white, contrasted with hardwood floors in a warm wood tone for depth.   BEFORE AFTER      Tip 1: Be mindful of the size of furniture and lean into a less is more approach. We start most projects by c ..read more

Ramayana Dining: Before & After We’re excited to share the dining room of our newest project today! Nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Redmond, Washington, the home had beautiful architecture, with large windows, a vaulted ceiling and detailed wall treatments throughout, which set a great foundation to build from. Our client loved pattern, so we started with a wallpaper as the focal point. Its’ muted tones add warmth to the space, while the curved shapes in the pattern bring softness and personality.    PROGRESS   We paired the wallpaper with another print, fo ..read more

Lockhaven Remodel: Master & Guest Bath Progress As some of you may know, I’ve been designing a guest and master bathroom in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle this year. 6 months in, we’ve reached an exciting point in the project - demolition, electrical, plumbing and drywall have all completed and the materials have started to go in! For the master bathroom, I wanted to develop a layout with as much functional space as possible, creating a look that blended modern and contemporary styles. Here are a few before photos of the master bathroom room, and its new space plan layo ..read more
