Whether you’re on a PC or gaming laptop, nothing beats a compact keyboard for getting your game on in a small space. A transparent laptop wasn’t on our bingo card for 2024, but here we are. Lenovo isn’t necessarily known for its wacky concepts. Instead, the company behind the iconic ThinkPad usually treads a more predictable path. But at MWC 2024, the company decided to think differently and, so alongside a slew of ThinkPad updates (including the excellent ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2) it gave us a transparent laptop. Sounds bizarre doesn’t it? But it’s actually rather compelling. What’s the advantage of it we hear you ask. Interestingly, Lenovo suggested the main focus for such a device would be for artist ..read more

PC gaming while on the move is going to get a whole lot easier in 2024 – and not just because of the abundance of Steam Deck rivals doing the rounds. New, more efficient Intel and AMD CPUs have let gaming laptop makers dramatically slim down and reduce weight, without compromising on GPU horsepower. The HP OMEN Transcend 14 is the latest – an 18mm thick thin and light with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 doing the graphical heavy lifting. I don’t think it’s unfair to say HP’s Omen division has flown under many gamers’ radars of late, but the Omen Transcend 14 has a big chance of changing that. This ..read more

Two years ago Dell used its CES event to launch the supercharged XPS 13 Plus laptop. In 2024 it has again turned to revamp its crucial XPS line and roll out that design across three new laptops – the outgoing Plus design has now moved to the standard XPS 13. So far so expected, but there are now new 14 and 16in screen sizes. In other words, there’s now a XPS 16 and XPS 14 as well. We’re not sure as yet where this leaves the XPS 17, revised last year. All three new laptops will be available during the next couple of months, starting at $1300, $1700 and $1900 respectively in the US. UK pricing h ..read more
