Lecho is a typical summer recipe, in which you perfectly process fresh peppers and ripe tomatoes from the garden. Or the ones you buy at a farmers' market when these vegetables are at their peak season. Got a craving for lecho? Let’s cook it! Although the original recipe comes from Hungary, the dish is also popular throughout Central and Eastern Europe, especially in the Czech Republic or Poland.  Czechs call this meal 'lečo', Hungarians 'lecsó', and Poles 'leczo'. Pretty similar, isn’t it? MY TIP: Fan of European meals? Try Haluski, fried cabbage and noodles (it tastes fantastic!) ➜ Wha ..read more

Let's make an easy but great recipe for fried cabbage with noodles and crisp bacon, a delicious dish called haluski! I came across this food when I was doing some research on Slovak halusky (halušky). Authentic Slovak halusky are small dumplings made of grated raw potatoes and flour, dropped into the water, and then cooked. But then there are the Polish and Hungarian versions of the recipe. It is basically an identical dish, and we call it "kuře na paprice" or "kuřecí paprikáš" (chicken paprikash) here in the Czech Republic.  The reason why the Czechs adopted Hungarian paprikash is obvious: the Czech lands were a part of the Austro-Hungarian E ..read more

When you walk through the Prague historic center while being hungry, stop by one of many street vendors and buy langos bread. This deep-fried delicacy will drive your hunger away, and besides, it tastes so delightful! ➜ What Is Langos Langos (langoš in Czech) is a Hungarian flatbread made from yeast dough. Pieces of proofed dough are stretched into discs and deep-fried from each side until golden and crispy. Langos tastes neutral on its own, but it can be topped with both sweet or salty toppings. Czechs probably love the variant with garlic sauce topping, grated cheese, and ketchup the most. L ..read more
