I’m a 33 years old male from UK. My symptoms started 4 weeks ago. Usually in the evenings for a week, arriving home some choking feelings which didn’t affect my swallowing or breathing, simply felt worrying. A week later at work, it started as well, but I couldn’t swallow properly and felt the airway was tighter. Went to the hospital emergency, and the emergency GP told me I had throat inflammation, and he prescribed me steroid anti-inflammatory tablets. The next day I went to private ENT who told me my pharynx and larynx were red and mostly caused by reflux, so she prescribed Famotidine. The ..read more

Off and on pain for years. Seems to be triggered by anxiety and depression. Sitting in church today and can’t focus because my stomach and chest are hurting. Burning sensation. So annoying. Taking pantoprazole but it seems like sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Had an endoscopy 2 to 3 yrs ago and everything clean. Had a colonoscopy 10 yrs ago everything clean. Due for one now. Will probably do cologuard for now though. Just so exasperated by this condition. It makes me miserable and irritable amd no one can really understand it unless you go through it. Praying by God’s grace this f ..read more

My dad had Gerd pretty bad as I remember. I remember growing up and seeing him gulp down Maalox. We always had a bottle on the frig. When I got to be around my mid-fifties, I started feeling heartburn. I woke up and had pain in my chest. It was lower, at my xyphoid area. I thought it was my heart. Everything came back fine. However, I was still having pain. I called a GI doctor. I was placed on omeprazole and Pepcid, prescription strength. I had an EGD and was diagnosed with a small amount of Barretts. That was devastating to me. I have improved on my diet and eating schedule. I try not to eat ..read more

I developed GERD and IBS about 2.5 years ago. I went through a lot of stressful life events and ever since then I’ve been suffering from neverending stomach pain/ cramping and horrible acid creeping up my throat, especially when I’m trying to sleep at night. It feels ike acid is burning a hole in my stomach and esophagus. The IBS causes constant bloating and pain. I use the restroom for #2 on average about 6-7 times a day but at it’s worst much more. I have gone diarrhea in my pants several times while out in public thinking I was just letting out a benign little fart. But the worst by far is ..read more

male 60+ have had throat burning reflux episodes. am fit and active, non smoker. had an endoscopy within the year which found no issues. was on PepcidAC alone for years, then began on Nexium for 2 yrs ago + PepcidAC 1 tab each night. I was no longer having any throat burning episodes but after 2 yrs developed chronic cough, particularly triggered by eating. tested for allergies – negative. seemed to be due to silent reflux. noted that mornings (~6am) I am nearly cough-free even after 2 cups of coffee (considered a trigger drink) …generally don’t eat breakfast. the only reason I could imagine f ..read more

Three years ago kept waking up at 2am with heart racing and sky high blood pressure. Felt nauseous and chest and arm pain. This went on and off until had three attacks in one week. Each Ecg came back fine. It wasn’t until fourth attack in a week that I examined by a Gastro consultant who thought I had Gerd and not a heart issue. I’ve had a gastroscope and biopsy that showed gastric polyps, gastritis and Gerd. Lost 1 1/2 stone in Five weeks. Now on 40mg Omeprazole and 10 antacids a day. Nothing seems to help. Every day I have feeling like something stuck in my throat, constant acid reflux. Oh I ..read more

I have been diagnosed with GERD last year, month of October. I did 3 bad things at the same time. I eat oranges, nuggets and then drank my antibiotic then I sleep immediately just to wake up after an hour with a burning sensation in my throat and in my right chest. I hated myself for not coming to the Emergency that night, I tried to ease it with chewable gaviscon. It’s hard living with GERD. I can attest to that, there was one time, where in I can feel the food passing in my esophagus, the doctor suspected that I had an esophagus tear due to the antibiotic. Omeprazole was able to help me but ..read more

I am 28 years old and I have been living with IBS for over 10 years. It has not been easy and finding a good diet is the one main thing I struggle with because I love food. Over the past year everything seemed great until a month ago, I recently started to feel sick again. I had to stop going to work again and school because of this. Trying to get back on track with my health and the rest is the biggest struggle I have had to face since this has been happening ..read more
