This is my first deployment and ive never left North America before. What should i expect on my first deployment/deployment to the UK? What are the living conditions like? I've(RegF) been invited to an Honours and Awards function to receive an award, not sure what it is. Dress is N1As for military, business for civilians. I'm currently on LOA-Parental and will be for the function. Is there any sort of loophole where I don't have to wear my uniform? Does the "Authorized to wear uniform while on leave Y/N" section of the leave pass actually mean anything? For context I don't particularly care for the dog and pony show around this function and am only interested in going if I can wear something comfortable.
