Farewell, Contra

After visiting Wildair for some shared plates, cocktails, and girl talk earlier this year, I discovered she had a sister – Contra. I immediately added it to my foodie wishlist, but then read an Eater article announcing the restaurant’s expected closure, which came as a surprise considering they’d been open for a decade. So I quickly booked an OpenTable reservation for 1.     To kick things off… Le Brésil. This cocktail was so light and refreshing, which is just how I like to start my meals. And if you have a sweet tooth, you’d like the banana and lemon flavors paired with cachaça, w ..read more

‘Lavender Haze’ Inspired Manicure

I’m not really a Swifty, but let’s be honest, these nails just scream Lavender Haze! From the marble swirls to the gold flakes and accent fingers, grab the deets below for your next mani appointment.     This look was created by a nail artist at Akiko Nails and these are the IG posts that inspired my manicure. I loved this look with the gold flakes, but purple is my favorite color, so I switched it up a little bit. The lavender accent nails help keep the nails in the Spring given the other dark colors. What I love about this manicure is that you can change the look for any occasion ..read more

There’s a new kid in town! A rooftop lounge brought to us by Carver Road Hospitality just opened up over in Hell’s Kitchen. Located on the 27th floor of the Civilian Hotel, Starchild has impressive panoramic views of New York City and really unique cocktails.     Prime bathroom selfie! Kudos on the cool lighting and mirrored-walls in the bathroom. Grab your girls for a late night bathroom selfie early in the night… before everyone gets too drunk.     Featured above are the cocktails we ordered on repeat. On the left is the Ciao MF cocktail and on the right is the OnlyFans ..read more

A cozy L.E.S. neighborhood gem serving shared plates of “New American” cuisine and well-made cocktails. The Deets Apparently, Wildair is Contra’s little sister. Interestingly enough, this restaurant is on my hit list, so stay tuned for a blog post. While Wildair is technically listed as a wine bar, I mostly leaned into the cocktails. I’ll have to come back for round two to try a few more menu items and their wine selection. And per usual, I recommend making an OpenTable reservation and scoping out the menu ahead of time.   Oysters Beef Tartare Sausage   The Spritz (featured in the ..read more

Lean Body System by Modere

Trim This liquid gold was the easiest addition to my daily routine because it’s just a teaspoon a day. The chocolate flavor is amazing, which is obvious because it’s always sold out. But, the lime-coconut is the ish! This is just my two cents— try them all and give yourself some options. And I heard a rumor that a limited edition flavor is coming this month. It’s Mango! Trim accelerates fat reduction and improves muscle tone, which promotes “lean body composition.” As with many health and wellness products, this is not a cure and your lifestyle will require some work and a few changes. They might recommend some new products to improve your skincare routine… And potentially ditching any that aren’t serving you well. Here’s some advice my esthetician, Nourhan from HeyDay, shared with me during my last visit. “It is very important for our clients to understand the benefits of the products we recommend for them. Fall 2022 Hair Trends

'Tis the season for brunettes! After a nice long beige blonde summer, I’m back to what I like to call bronde for the Fall. As we transition into the chilly autumnal weather, chocolate lowlights and caramel balayages are definitely trending. If you’re starting off with a very bleachy blonde, ask your colorist about how to best “melt” your roots and blend your hair into a darker color. Also love the pumpkin-spiced copper tones I’m seeing lately. I skipped out on the bold money piece this time because my hair got a little over-processed at my last appointment, but those are trending too. Always ..read more

Last night, I checked out Ki Sushi for a date night on Smith Street near Cobblehill in Brooklyn. You can’t go wrong with a sushi spot that has fresh fish and reasonable prices. I tried some new food this weekend, like the Fried Gyoza, King Crab Cali Roll, and Rainbow Roll. And I’m normally not a fan of sweet wine, but I loved the Kinsen Plum Wine. The bill was about $136 before tax and gratuity.     My balayage was crafted by Brianna at Citrine Salon, an oasis for the blondes of the Hudson Valley. According to Style Seat’s pricing data, full balayage appointments can cost between $76 and $452 on average. I don’t know about you ladies, but I pay closer to the expensive end of the spectrum both in New York City and upstate New York. Purple Shampoo First and foremost, ask your colorist for product recommendations. Don't assume you always need purple shampoo. For those of you who don’t know, now you know that it’s a special shampoo that contains a purple pigment to neutralize b ..read more
