It’s been a while since I’ve shared my recent makeup routine, so I figured it was time to write it all down in one place. Keep in mind, this is my full face of makeup—feel free to add or remove steps to suit your personal style. This routine covers my full face however you can make this into a beginner’s makeup look or a more natural look. These products are my current ride-or-die favorites, so trust me when I say this is truly my everyday makeup routine. I’ll also list them in the exact order I apply them. Let’s jump in! Eyebrows I start my makeup routine by brushing my brows backwa ..read more

One topic I really haven’t blogged much about is my favorite lip products. (I have a lot of them!) I don’t know about you guys, but I always tend to gravitate toward neutrals — specifically colors that fall within the rosey nude and mauve family.* *I will add a caveat that I recently tried this Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond in a bold red, and I might start going bold more often! I love playing around with different lip liners, lipsticks, and lip gloss combinations, so I figured I’d share two combos that I’ve been wearing a lot lately. Even if you wear just the lipsticks on their own, each of these ..read more

Through the years of testing and trying out a variety of beauty products, I feel like I’ve officially nailed my go-to makeup look. While I love switching things up (and being the first to dabble with new finds), there’s nothing quite like having a solid everyday makeup routine in place. I know that most people wouldn’t consider themselves pros when it comes to makeup, but trust me when I say that it doesn’t have to be complicated. Even just a handful of products can transform your look—the key is finding the right ones that will pull their weight. Whether you’re totally new to makeup or you’re ..read more

There are few things that make me feel more put together than a fresh manicure, particularly during the summer time. Plus, with an uptick in summer travel, weddings, and other special events, I find that having a pretty coat of paint on my nails is one small detail that I totally indulge in. With that being said, I know that if you’re someone who gets their nails done regularly (or if you give yourself at-home manicures), coming up with nail polish ideas can be tough. The warmer days that this season provides call for brighter colors, fun patterns, and pastel hues, but if you need more inspo ..read more

As a self-admitted makeup junkie, I love nothing more than revamping my routine for a new season…and summer makeup just so happens to be my specialty. (Though I do also have an article about the best winter makeup and products as well!) When it comes to changing up my makeup for hot weather, I focus a lot on staying power, things packed with SPF, things that will make me look dewy (but not oily), and things that will keep my face and lips hydrated and plump. And, perhaps most importantly, I love a gorgeous, just-back-from-the-beach bronzed glow. After testing hundreds of products over the year ..read more

After years of testing hundreds (maybe even thousands) of beauty products, I’m happy to report that I’ve totally nailed my morning skincare routine. With so much information out there about the best skincare practices and highly coveted products, I know it can be overwhelming to differentiate quality tips from bogus advice. Having a solid skincare routine in place is essential for the overall health and appearance of your complexion. And while your skin’s needs might change throughout the month and season, following a routine can help combat issues like acne, clogged pores, and sun damage. Her ..read more

When spending a day at the beach (or when visiting on vacation), it’s crucial that you wear makeup products that protect your skin from uv rays. It’s also important that said products can withstand the seaside elements, whether that’s heat, humidity, or a dip in the water. While there are tons of long-lasting makeup finds out there, it can be tricky to find products that actually hold up during a day at the beach. Plus, I know firsthand that going sans makeup can leave you feeling a little bit “naked.” To help you prep for your next beach vacay, I’m sharing a handful of products that pass the ..read more

When it comes to makeup, I truly believe there’s a time and a place for everything. From an easy-to-put-together everyday look to soft glam makeup, I feel like I have tried it all. However, regardless of the occasion I’m getting ready for, there are a few makeup bag staples that I would consider “must-wears.” On that list? Some type of tinted moisturizer or foundation (for a dewy and fresh complexion), a good mascara (that doesn’t get clumpy), and an eyebrow gel (that actually holds your brow hairs up.) Brow gels might seem like a product you can skip in your makeup routine, but they really do ..read more

Drunk Elephant, founded by Tiffany Masterson in 2012, has achieved cult-like status among influencers and skincare newbies alike. Originally designed by Masterson to address her skin’s issues, the brand boasts a following of nearly 2 million followers on Instagram who are loyal to both Drunk Elephant and Masterson herself. Their claim to fame is the decision to exclude the “Suspicious 6” ingredients from their products: essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, and SLS. Masterson believes that these ingredients are at the root of every skin issue and, wh ..read more

I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to my makeup and skincare, I’m not exactly the most organized person. As someone who writes about beauty and skincare for a living, I receive an excessive amount of products—and, for the life of me, I’ve never been able to figure out how to keep everything neat and tidy. Before I had a makeup storage plan in place, my apartment looked like the back stock room of a Sephora…and not in a good way. So I decided to hire California Closets to help design a space that would best suit the needs of all of my products—and then, I enlisted the help of a profe ..read more
