It's no secret that companies across many industries have been struggling to encourage employees to return to physical offices. One approach is to make these spaces more enticing, giving employees great reasons to choose to make the commute to take advantage of perks they may not have access to at home. Amenity offerings have exploded in recent years, bringing a whole new layer of experience to the workplace. Kuchar recently completed a wellness spa in Chicago within an office building, adding two ice baths and a sauna to an existing space. This corporate wellness amenity is meant to provide ..read more

Warm woods, curved shelving, and striking green marble make a statement in Sushi|Bar's Chicago location. Stacked tile and terrazzo flooring evoke classic midcentury elements inherent to Chicago, while upholstered panels and brass fixtures bring intimacy to the private room. The sophisticated, dramatic, and inviting space allows guests to fully immerse in a transformative experience. Sushi|Bar's entrance to the Chicago dining scene was a long time coming. We were originally tapped to design their space in six weeks, and we threw ourselves fully into the challenge. They take the concept of sp ..read more

Kuchar Studio
by Sarah

Three months into 2024, we're starting to see some exciting interior design trends emerge. Both interior spaces and products are being introduced with reimagined materials, forms and ideas. The 1970's are making a return, with conversation pits becoming mainstream and 70's colors popping up everywhere. Chrome also makes a comeback, starting to elbow out brass for the "it" metal. In both residential and commercial, marble is what everyone wants - and in a big way. We are obsessed with what we're seeing so far in 2024 and are already working some of them into our current projects. Scroll down to ..read more

Financial Firm Bristol: engineering endeavor
Kuchar Studio

Jumping over the pond to the UK city of Bristol, Kuchar had to opportunity to work on an office for a financial firm. Weaving in inspiration from not only what the employees are going to create, but from the sites and textures of the surrounding city. Bristol also has a unique connection to airplanes, with it being the final landing place of the Concorde. Below is a page right out of our presentation showing the imagery that inspired the space. We were also afforded the chance to see the space before the work started. It was a pretty typical white box, office ready space, so we were excited t ..read more

With tens of thousands of visitors walking the halls of the Merchandise Mart each year for NeoCon, one of the main goals of any Kuchar showroom design is to make a great first impression on each and every person. From marble clad entries, to live plant installations, to unexpected color palettes, our past showroom designs have stood out against their neighbors and competitors. With such great importance on the three days of the show, it's important to think about the ways in which your brand will stand out and be remembered. The first and main reason for a showroom to stand out at NeoCon is ..read more

Muse Community + Design is a fellow woman-owned local company who offers inventive and inspiring solutions to help communities manage change. Recently they moved to a new office in Wicker Park, tapping Kuchar in the process to help bring their space to life. We were very inspired by the mission of the company and really wanted to create a space that reflected their ethos - and also their new branding! They had recently rebranded, bringing a fun and bright visual identity to the table during the design process that was very stimulating to work with. Their punchy brand orange can be seen throug ..read more

Nestled in Philadelphia's University City, the Radian has provided housing options for local students for over a decade. Keeping the building's slogan "Always Up, Always On" in mind, Kuchar freshened up their entry and amenity areas with a cool palette of shiny metallics and neon accents, paired with branded blues, soft textures, and graphic patterns. The resulting spaces feel as energetic and forward-thinking as the building's hardworking residents. Before Photos: The Radian's lobby is a hotbed for resident activity, containing reception and leasing areas as well as multiple work and lounge ..read more

A Nook within a nook
Kuchar Studio
by Rachel

They say good things come in small packages. That seems the best way to describe this small but mighty showroom. We had less than 300sf to make an impact. At about 40 feet wide and 7 feet deep, we needed the product finishes to shine and find the right placement for the brand’s message. We selected a spiced orange tone for the walls and a contrasting warm white for the handwritten font that walks clients through what a Nook is and the benefits it creates. We were inspired by the pitch of the Nook's roof to create the angles for the wall paint transition. The concept of a “Nook within a Nook ..read more
