A squirrel managed to jump infront of my tires today. He started towards freedom then did a u-turn right into my path. How many others have knotched an unwitting animal on their scotter? This is a first for me on the scooter but a previous bike birds kept flying into me and the bike. I may have to get a sheet of animal stickers ..read more

The end of the line for scooters?

I've just put a deposit on a Moto Guzzi V7 850 and I'll be trading in the Burgman 400 and the 500F. Funny enough it's not the riding. Both the Burgman and the 500F have been nearly faultless in terms of riding enjoyment and reliability. I even have a GIVI Airflow on the Burgman which makes travel so much nicer. Both bikes are an absolute joy in the twisties. So what gives? My knees. Chain lubes and adjustments have become a painful experience. I need a bike with shaft drive, hence the... (Just picked up a 2008 Buddy 150 with 1750 miles.) OK guys (and gals). Now that I actually got a scooter, I need to know which parts houses are the ones to go to? Some stuff I've got figured out, i.e. tires - Cycle Gear Oil - WallyWorld Tranny Oil - WallyWorld Battery - Amazon (although it starts right up so maybe wait on that) Spark plug - Autozone After that, I'm stuck. On my want/need list will be: oil filter, maybe an air filter... It's got really low miles, so what else should I get ..read more

https://advrider.com/f/threads/2020-vespa-gts-ie-hpe-5900.1732633/ I just don't use my Vespa GTS much anymore so decided to sell it. These creaky old bones aren't what they used to be. It's been great and I loved riding in the Appalachian mountains with it. With the top box, windshield and GPS it's a comfortable touring machine for anything but freeways. (It will do 80 mph but it's not fun). Also been great hanging out here on BS and sharing an occasional trip report.... Leaving the Scooter life ..read more

what is your favorite product to shine and protect it? My first instinct is something like 303 Automotive (or Original)... https://www.goldeagle.com/product/303-automotive-protectant/ https://www.goldeagle.com/product/303-aerospace-protectant/ But I've never owned a bike that was covered in plastic body work, so I'll rely on the experts. And if this is likely to turn into a "which oil" thread, just tell me and I'll experiment on my own and report... After you wash your (plastic) scooter ..read more

Got a quality digital tire gauge, a pleasure to use!

As I am back on two wheels, I needed to upgrade some of my stuff. So, I got a digital tire gauge, round, rubber housed, "pro-level", Jaco brand, and it is so easy to measure pressure and adjust down as needed with built-in release. Little pressure loss on release from stem, as well. I also got a Slime palm-sized digi gauge earlier, but the full size is so much easier for garage use. The better tool would also promote more frequent use ..read more

Windshield or not to windshield?

I found out that the used TGB Delivery scooter I bought a couple months ago has an optional windshield available (factory accessory) for immediate delivery. My morning commute gets quite cold here in southwest AZ, but since it is dry, I commute year round. My only hesitation with ordering the windshield is will it decrease my top speed while keeping the cold off of me? I need to be able to cruise at 60 mph at the least which is what it does now (sometimes up to 63 or 64), but do... Windshield or not to windshield ..read more

Modern scooter with (potential for) excellent wind management and comfort?

Being (so far!) a 100% motorcycle guy, I have only done the occasional test ride on a scooter, but please bear with me. Is there a modern, mid size scooter like the Xmax 300, Kawasaki J300, Vespa 300 etc that has or can achieve really good wind management? I am looking for lowest possible wind noise, and it also needs to have minimal amount of vibrations in seat, floor and handlebar. Smaller modifictions like a new screen or adding spoilers etc is fine! So, realisticly, how do these modern... Modern scooter with (potential for) excellent wind management and comfort ..read more
