I’ve spent my career working behind the scenes across the firearm industry making connections
and building brands. I do my best to avoid the limelight, supporting the folks who are driving
the 2A community forward.
Making the Vortakt Connection
This story began this past SHOT Show, where I was working at the U.S. Concealed Carry
Association booth as part of the USCCA Official Partner Marketing team. I’d been a long time
listener of “The Everyday Sniper” and had managed a few ad accounts on the platform over the
years, so I had a fairly solid baseline understanding of the Sniper’s Hide brand an ..read more

Competing in a Hunter match is rewarding and fun:
Having competed in numerous Hunter matches across seven states, I’ve experienced a wide array of competition layouts and styles. Always looking for ways to improve in our outlets, I was not let down at this match. This year, while I participated in only this event so far, I had the unique opportunity to compete on a team and serve as a Range Officer (RO) at the Buffalo Bills Revenge NRL Hunter competition. Through this dual role, I gained valuable insights that could help both seasoned competitors and those new to these ev ..read more

Introduction: Understanding the Kraft Challenge
The Kraft Challenge is a systematic approach designed to evaluate and enhance a shooter’s marksmanship by examining their fundamental skills across various shooting positions and heights. This innovative assessment is crucial for pinpointing inconsistencies in shooting fundamentals, which, if unaddressed, can lead to shifts in bullet point of impact. By offering a comprehensive analysis at 100 yards, the Kraft Challenge aids in refining shooters’ precision, accuracy, and consistency in their marksmanship fundamentals. Once you have a baseline yo ..read more

A great deal of attention is dedicated to making our rifles more accurate. Shooters agonize over the best barrels, the stiffest actions, and the most rigid chassis. But for some reason, all too often they ignore the second largest part of the equation—making the user accurate.
There are several upgrades that can make your bolt action rifle more accurate and shrink your groups, all of them talked about at length. But what gets ignored are the little parts and accessories that can make shooting easier, faster, and more fun.
Below, we’ve curated a list of the best quality-of-life upg ..read more

Level up your comfort and performance with these suggestions
Tailoring your equipment is all about making sure that every piece of equipment you use fits your body right. When your body and your equipment are aligned and in the optimal position to do what they were designed to do you both perform at your best. When things are ergonomically fit, you’re less likely to get tired or hurt, which means you can work or play better and longer. Think of it like this: if your equipment feels just right in your hands and doesn’t make you strain, you’re going to do a much better job with it. Plus, you’ll ..read more

Rifle enthusiasts are always excited to show off their equipment. I am right there with the pack. Nice barrel, nice stock or chassis, and a cool new optic with many magnification levels. Who doesn’t want to appreciate them, and there’s nothing wrong with that. How do you figure out application zone, and use case performance zones, for these systems? I don’t subscribe to one rifle rules them all, even though it would be cool. Magnification levels make a difference for many shooters. If you havent tested your shooting at different magnification levels you might be missing more than ..read more

Introduction:
Levels have got to be one of the most controversial, misunderstood, and poorly advised topics in precision rifle. So, naturally, I will offer you some more advice of dubious provenance to go with the rest on the heap. I will, however, throw in some numbers as well. That should make it seem scientific and conclusive. Whether it be or not, it’s my opinion on the topic and I’m self-confident enough to think it will be of help to somebody. At least, it will keep you from trying to hang a plumb line from a tree in your backyard or fro ..read more

Answers are only answers because of questions. Solutions are only solutions because of problems.
As precision long range rifle instructors, our problem was a full line of students each with his or her own rifle, caliber, and numerous parameters and cartridges all flying at different speeds at different weights with different characteristics.
We needed an expedient means of providing the student with a solution for the next yard line’s data based upon his impact at the last yard line. Otherwise, the student spent valuable instruction time staring at any one of a number of ballistic ..read more

Background
In the last article we looked at ways to conceptually break down a variety of field shooting skills into categories you can measure and work on. Now I want to focus a little closer on the training concept; ie we have identified areas of weakness, let’s try to develop them on our own. Training for Field Shooting competitions requires a comprehensive approach that combines marksmanship, Terrain considerations, and equipment skills. So, here are some ideas that can be used to develop a training plan or system with the intention of shaking up your routine and adding some new layers to y ..read more
