1 of 6 Although she’s now based in New York City, Michele Oka Doner is never far from the influences of her life in Florida. In her book A Seed Takes Root: A True Story, Oka Doner reflects on her decades-long relationship with a 90-year-old banyan tree in Miami Beach. Oka Doner created the bronze sculpture Palm Goddess for Malta in 2022. Located on Republic Street in Valletta, Malta, the work references the Phoenix dactylifera palm that grows on Malta and embraces the area’s ancient past. A Seed Sprouted, 2021, is made on paper from a tree that survived being hit by a car, a fire ..read more

1 of 5 In her studio, artist Anja Palombo tests the limits of clay on a daily basis. The craft of ceramics offers her time and opportunity for her thoughts and inspiration to come together. Many of Palombo’s works achieve a bright white finish and a patina of time past. “It’s like the piece has been sitting in water for a long time,” says the artist. “This lack of distraction is on purpose.” Palombo’s Head in the Clouds porcelain and stoneware sculptures reference clouds both metaphorically and literally. A sculpture from the Head in the Clouds series. Inspired by ancient Cycladi ..read more

1 of 6 “The approach in this foyer was minimalism with organic textural elements,” says Gloria Black. “The texture that definitely stands out is the sea grass that’s on the mirror and the chandelier.” There are many fabrics at play in this living room,” says Black. “The sofa is a mix that was treated for family and pet use, the area rug is a thick wool for comfort underfoot, and the decorative pillows are made from faux fur.” Black opted for a sofa upholstered in a neutral chenille topped with faux fur pillows for this Naples sunroom. Textures on the bed of this primary suite inclu ..read more

1 of 9 This area of the residence near the ground-level garage serves as a gallery of sorts for a blue glass sculpture by Tom Marosz and a set of large paintings from Brazilian artist Sergio Lucena’s Infinite Nothing series that were found at the Untitled art fair in Miami. The bronze-and-granite Canoe Man by Chilean sculptor Ignacio Gana Duval nods to the subtle nautical themes interior designer Robert Rionda suggested for the home.
