Today, the Center for Individual Freedom (“CFIF”) announces the launch of a radio ad campaign across the Denver metro area exposing the truth about United Food and Commercial Workers (“UFCW”) Local 7 president Kim Cordova’s authoritarian crackdown on her own members.
Undertaken by CFIF’s Imperfect Union initiative, the ad aims to bring awareness to Cordova’s intimidation campaign of fines and payroll deductions against her members who continued to work during January’s King Soopers strike.

Last week, it was reported that Kim Cordova, president of United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Local 7, has launched an intimidation campaign of fines and payroll deductions against her own members who chose to “cross the picket line” by continuing to work during January’s King Soopers strike.

Brandon Hopkins, the leader of United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Local 455, is at it again. This time, he’s convinced his members to authorize a strike in Louisiana while also threatening to strike in Houston.
The strike authorization for Louisiana – just the latest of numerous strike authorizations since Hopkins became president in 2020 – comes just days after the release of Local 455’s updated financial documents. Those documents reveal massive pay increases for Hopkins while at the same time his Local 455 suffers with more than $2.6 million in debt.

Earlier today, the Center for Individual Freedom (CFIF) and its “Imperfect Union” project sent an open letter to leaders of United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Locals in Southern California highlighting their failure to adequately support rank-and-file members who face financial struggles related to the pandemic and record inflation.
The letter calls for an immediate suspension of the collection of union dues, and for the UFCW Locals to return some of the dues money collected from members since the pandemic began in March 2020.
