So, with that out of the way, let me update you on some of the recent book purchases I’ve made! Working at a bookstore, it’s practically impossible to come ..read more

It’s hard to believe that 2021 is over! It’s been a whirlwind of a year, that’s for sure. Throughout all of the chaos and confusion of the past twelve months, I, like many others, experienced all sorts of highs and lows… But through it all, reading was my primary source of comfort, joy, and safety. Getting lost in stories has always been a cathartic, relaxing sort of bliss for me, but with 2021 being the crazy year that it was, I depended on reading more than ever. And because of that, I discovered so many incredible books this year, all from various different authors and genres. I always loo ..read more

Mermaid Reads

Before I even get into any actual monthly updates, let me take a moment to apologize for my inactivity last month! I was crazy busy for the entirety of August, so I had very little time to read and even less time to blog. Why was I so busy, might you ask? Well… *takes a deep breath* A couple weeks ago, I returned to normal, in-person classes for the first time in what feels like forever! It was… wild, to say the least. Seeing everyone on campus after months of online learning was so surreal, especially since we’ve all changed so much over the past year and a half. But overall, I’m so glad to ..read more

July 2021 Wrap-Up

July was a pretty mediocre reading month for me. I spent the first week of the month on vacation with my family, which was super relaxing. But then came the post-vacation reading slump, which STILL hasn’t gone away. I know experiencing reading slumps from time to time is inevitable, but it still sucks. Because of my slumpy mood, I didn’t read or blog as much as I would’ve liked to in July, but I still managed to read a few great books! Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer (ARC): Defy the Night was easily the best book I read last month! It had a gripping plot, fascinating characters, amazing ..read more
