When our longtime client’s daughter purchased her first home in Vista, California they called on us to turn the small, dirt-filled backyard into a Summertime haven. The builders left us with a pile of dirt and a fence line that would not be suitable for any privacy or a way to plan the design. As I sit on my new deck in our Fallbrook, CA home I consider what part of being outdoors moves me so. Immediately my memory transports me back to childhood being raised in the South.
