Hey, a bit of a serious question here and it's probably not in the right spot so sorry about that. I want to have as few identifying pieces of information here as possible but I recently became aware that my ex had been having all my emails forwarded to them by use of a filter in Gmail. I have removed the filter, changed all associated passwords and the password to my password manager just in case so I'm fairly sure I've put a stop to it though it's obviously still scary. We've been broken up for about 2 years now and there were a whole lot of stalking and harassment issues from around that t ..read more

Bitdefender Antivirus Plus vs. Internet Security (moving from Norton Deluxe 360) ?

Hello, I have been using Norton 360 Deluxe for 11 months. It is time to consider whether to buy the latest version or change to another software. It is quite good but it often sends me emails and pop up messages on my screen about additional paid services. Kind of annoying. I chose it last year over Bitdefender because of unlimited VPN. However, I installed NordVPN so I don't need Norton's unlimited VPN feature. In terms of security and virus catching, is Norton or Bitdefender better? I can get Bitdefender Antivirus Plus on sale but it lacks the "Privacy Firewall" feature that Bitdefender Int ..read more

Hi everyone, I really need some advice as one area I have always been incredibly remiss and probably even a little lazy with is cyber security. So please feel free to explain like I'm 5yo. I've been working remotely for a couple of years on my normal home Win10/11 desktop, I've tried to be as careful as I can but recently my colleagues and I have been targeted with a lot of phishing emails and calls, scams through compromised emails from legitimate clients, and most recently malware disguised in we think it was PDFs or maybe videos. Part of my job is frequently being sent PDFs, pictures, vi ..read more

Hi, First and foremost, I've been considering a wide variety of options for an operating system with the following priorities in mind: 1- Privacy: At the risk of sounding paranoid, the geopolitical state of MANY "democratic" countries and just the world in general is very concerning to me and thus my desire for privacy extends far beyond the mere avoidance to be tracked for advertisement purposes. I trust no institution to keep any potentially personally identifyable data about me from unscrupulous or malevolent actors whether they are government officials or brainwashed private citizens see ..read more

Hello! I recently visited the "y2mate.mobi" website (Russian version) and after clicking on red button "Download" (or something like that) I got a "USB connection" sound. Also in some time I could hear a disconnection sound. It happens rarely, but it happens. I have only USB from my mouse. Can it be virused? I noticed also that my laptop had started freeze and from my browser history have deleted all data that I had visited this site. What is it and how can it be solved? My antivirus software say that it is all okay with my laptop. I scanned it with Windows Defender (Autonomous module), malwa ..read more

For context I'm a very careful individual, everything I download off the internet I run through Windows Defender and Virustotal before executing, links I don't know I run through url scanners etc before opening. What I'm more so trying to avoid is some niche rare cases such as popular website or application exploits etc and getting infected through those type of things ..read more
