Quilting and crochet are two beautiful forms of textile art that have been enjoyed by crafters for centuries. Both involve creating intricate patterns and designs using various stitches and techniques. While each art form has its unique appeal, it's fascinating to explore the possibilities of combining them. I’ve been tinkering with this design for a couple of years now, testing different layouts based on traditional quilt blocks. Quilt blocks translate well into crochet. The geometric shapes and clean lines mean they can be replicated in a variety of stitches. I, of course, chose granny squ ..read more

November already! I love this time of year when the Christmas crafting begins. I do love a seasonal project (or five!) and this year I am making another Emma’s Hearts blanket as a gift. If you haven’t seen my first version of this blanket, you can read about it here. It’s a really calming make that works up quickly and doesn’t involve too much counting. If you would like to make your own Frosty Emma’s Hearts, here are all the details. I’ve followed the Emma’s Hearts pattern, but only use four colours this time instead of five. You can find the pattern in my shop here. For this version I u ..read more

Cosy Winter Wishes Blanket

I know I said there would be no new Christmas blanket from me this year, but you know me, always faffing with something! Not everyone celebrates Christmas so I thought it would be nice to make some tweaks to my Christmas Eve Wishes blanket to make it Winter themed rather than all out Christmas overload ?. Everyone celebrates cosy season! I’ve replaced the Gingerbread men with Nordic Houses and Santa Hats with cute bobble hats. There are 3 different bobble hat charts so you can choose the one you like best. If you’re feeling adventurous you could mix and match them! If you fancy a ch ..read more

Autumn is upon us again! I love everything about this time of year, but it’s the colours that inspire me most. The colours of autumn represent a transition from the vibrant greens of summer to the more subdued hues of winter. The oranges and yellows evoke feelings of warmth and comfort. As soon as I saw the wonderful shades of Stylecraft ReCreate Dk at the beginning of the year, I knew that I wanted to use them in an Autumn project. And here it is, Scandi Meadow Autumn! I knew that I wanted to make an Autumn version of this pattern even before I had finished the original colour ways. I kn ..read more

The Big Stashbuster Blanket

I make no secret of the fact that I love making granny squares. I also make no secret of the fact that I love buying yarn! But there comes a time when the piles (baskets, bags, boxes, drawers…) of leftover yarn become too big to ignore. This project will help you turn all of your bits and bobs into a  blanket that will be both beautiful and satisfying. One of the blankets that I get the most questions about is pictured above. It doesn’t have a name, but lives in my head as ‘Big Blanket’. It’s made with 10 x 10, 7 round granny squares, joined with continuous join and finished with a simp ..read more

Scandi Meadow

I am delighted to be able to share with you my Scandi Meadow Blanket. It’s an idea that I've had in my head for a long time, but only got around to working on in the last few months. Sometimes that hardest part of the design process isn’t coming up with the idea, it’s getting it out of your head! I started by making lots and LOTS of test pieces. Most of them ended up in the bin, but eventually I had a set of squares that I could imagine becoming a blanket. I took inspiration from Scandinavian Folk Art and from the work of Jocelyn Proust. I love her fun designs and use of repeating motifs ..read more

It’s been a busy few months with the Coronation CAL, but I am delighted to have a new project on my hook again. It’s a design that I have had in my mind for a long time and have been working on in the background since the beginning of the year. Meet Scandi Meadow. The design is inspired by Scandinavian Folk Art, but I think it also has a fun, 70s vibe too. It’s a fairly simple make, with no complicated stitch patterns so perfectly suited to beginners. There was quite a bit of maths involved to get all the elements to fit together. But the good news is that I have done all that for you so v ..read more

The Camper Van Blanket

Ever since I started crocheting ten years ago I have loved making granny squares. It’s my favourite thing to crochet and I always have a granny blanket on the go, even when I am working on other things. I made my first Camper Van blanket in 2015. Despite not owning a camper van, I wanted a blanket that would be a perfect companion for picnics and outdoor adventures. It has been a family favourite for years; unfortunately, all the love it has been subjected to has taken its toll. This year I have decided that I need a new one. Lots of people made the first one with me, so I’ve dusted off the ..read more

The Sirdar Coronation Keepsake Blanket Crochet Along

I am absolutely delighted to finally be able to share this blanket with you. When Sirdar commissioned me to design a blanket to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles, I have to admit I was slightly terrified. It felt like a huge responsibility, meeting everyone’s expectations for what a Royal celebration blanket should look like, but also creating a design that would be suitable for beginners and experienced crocheters alike. Here I am going to talk a little bit about my inspiration for the design and what you can expect as we work through the CAL. I’ve always been interested in History ..read more
