Here is a 3 minute video we shot for Whole Foods Market of rancher Joe Pozzi in Valley Ford, CA with Chef Melissa King. Joe is a fourth-generation rancher who raises grass-fed lambs, and a community leader in Northern California for land conservation. This lucky guy is not only an ambassador of family farming, but he gets to live and work on the rolling hills that he owns which overlook Bodega Bay. Imagine the morning smell of coffee, salt air, and the sounds of wind blowing through the tall coastal grass. Must be time well spent. My last post featured images from the summer catalog and lookbook photo shoot in Monterey, CA for the footwear brand Socksmith. Despite the rain, a highlight of the job was getting to work with everyone on set. Anything can happen on location. Long hours, dicey weather, bad jokes, changes with the location, or other unplanned events. I take my work pretty seriously, but there is never a reason to be a hot head. It’s just photography. So getting to work with people who keep a positive vibe is really appreciated. It makes the photography better and the day more fun. For these reasons and more, I ..read more

Selections from a footwear catalog and lookbook shoot in San Francisco for SockSmith.   Some of the locations included Dolores Park, Mission St, and Valencia St in San Francisco. Our lighting was pretty simple as you can see by the video below. Since we were moving around to many locations and had a long list of socks to shoot, we kept the gear selection fairly light.   Behind The Scenes Video: Video: Steve Cassingham | Metastyle Films Creative Direction: Judi Oyama | Maximum Impact Design Talent: Audrey Thomas, Katie Short, Rex Honda, Hunter Gil Assistant: Nils Carlson   The ..read more

The 2014 winner of the Titans of Mavericks Surfing Contest was Grant Twiggy Baker of South Africa. This year’s conditions were significantly better than the 2013 contest with a few heats seeing waves close to 40ft. Baker was aggressive and made the most of the opportunity. I didn’t shoot the contest this year, so here are a few outtakes of Twiggy I shot from the 2010 contest at Mavericks on a day with +50ft waves. click to enlarge 1 of 2. Grant “Twiggy” Baker going to work on a +50ft day. Notice he isn’t plucking this one off on the shoulder.   2 of 2. “The Reaction.” Grant Twiggy Baker a ..read more

After years of shooting sheet metal with engines, I finally sat down and created a portfolio of motorsports and automotive photography. This collection comes from some playoff-level assignments shot for various clients including: Audi sportscar experience, Mercedes-Benz, Motorcyclist Magazine, Porsche, Simraceway, and more. There will certainly be new trophies added and replacements to the portfolio over time. So far these are my all-stars. Event photography de Young Museum in San Francisco, CAEvent photography de Young Museum in San Francisco, CA Ammunition, a design group in SF, celebrated their 5 year anniversary with a very impressive private party at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. As with most event photography, it involved walking around with a camera and blending in with guests eating, drinking, in conversation, and enjoying themselves. We normally don’t look our best while eating and drinking, so I just tried to look invisible documenting the event. These folks sure like to party. Cheers to them for the gig, and to ..read more
