It's the end of Spring so that means that it's Palm Springs Photo Festival time again!  So much happened that my post is a little later than normal.  I worked with the incomparable Keith Carter this year, there was a wolf, lots of beautiful models, portfolio reviews, late night lectures and parties, and, it makes me emotional even to type this, the last talk given by Mary Ellen Mark.  Mary Ellen gave a moving talk on Wednesday night of the festival.  She showed a greatest hits slideshow of her work which was powerful and moving.  I've been a huge fan for ..read more

This week Stocksy paid out over half a million dollars in dividends to its 1500 members along with making substantial donations to charities. I am so grateful to be a part of the Stocksy family. They are a shining example of how the co-op model can be a viable and profitable model for businesses ..read more

Interiors Feature on Redfin

Redfin did a piece on the Most Common Listing Photo Mistakes and How to Fix Them on their website and asked me to give some tips! The article is full of good advice from de-cluttering your space to using a wide angle lens. But we all know that hiring a pro is the best way to go! Here’s my advice- “When photographing the space think about the height of the items in the room when composing your shot. Typically people photograph at eye level, but usually, the camera should be much lower to optimize the scene. For kitchens, you want to have the camera just high enough to show the top of the count ..read more

I’m pleased to announce the opening of Indigo Studio! The space is shared with my friend and fellow photographer McKinsey Jordan, and it’s being used as my office, a place for both of us to shoot, and we also rent it out for pop-ups, events, and for filming. The space is located at the point where the Highland Park, Eagle Rock, and Glassell Park neighborhoods all converge. It’s a 500 square foot interior space with another 500 square foot patio. Previously it was the space for the iconic Gimme Gimme Records shop, and most recently Gather Space LA ran by photographer Brittany Margulieux. We ar ..read more

Hey, welcome back! After a long hiatus the blog is back and better than ever. Since you’ve last heard from me I’ve been navigating the new challenges of pandemic photography, opening Indigo Studio and have had a full summer of shooting stock for Stocksy. Moving forward we’ll be giving you a first hand look at what shooting stock photography looks like and the fun we have behind the scenes. Shooting stock has been great because it allows me to meet local talent and expand the pool of models to call on when I have commercial clients that need reliable people. Besides stock photography I’ve been ..read more

Tons of Shoots in Thailand

Thailand proved to be our most productive location yet.  We had at least 10 stock shoots, shot two-dozen Airbnbs, and even had some editorial work.  I was amazed at how much media is created there, from TV, to print ads, to commercials.  This means that placed like Bangkok are filled with tremendous talent for photo shoots.  There we worked with top-notch international models, makeup artists and hair stylists.  Had we stayed longer we would have utilized the vast network of sets and studios.  I have nothing bad to say about the people, food, or transportation in B ..read more
