Trooli FTTP install failed - blocked duct

Thought I’d create a separate thread for this So the very nice guys from Trooli arrived on Monday and got started on the install. One guy drilled and fitted the ONT and did a very neat job. Cleaned up as he went and I was very happy. Sadly fibre blowing guy hit a problem. Our Openreach manhole that serves 5 houses in a little cul de sac has 5 pipes/ducts that go to each house. All around 15 yards long so not too far. However each one and of course mine was blocked about 5 inches in from... Read more ..read more

VOIP - What's good?

I need to keep a landline for various reason but would like to separate it out from my ISP. Currently I'm with Virgin for broadband and BT for phone. I'd like to move to FTTP which has recently been installed in the area but don't want to be forced into using ISP equipment for things like digital voice for example. I have my own Unifi setup and don't want an ISP router. Can people advice me of their experience with VOIP services? What's good? I could do with a call plan that includes... Read more ..read more

After getting abruptly dumped by Cuckoo who only want full fibre customers I am moving to Trooli. They piped the road a couple of months ago and are now ready to supply FTTP. Engineer arrives Monday at 9.00 I just noticed that Trooli have a "spring sale" and are offering 900Mbs broadband for £29.99 for 2 years with no price increases. Not sure what package I signed up for but it might be 150Mbs at the same price. It's all I need. However, 900Mbs ! Why not. So I'll be on the phone to them at... Read more ..read more

Intermittent loss of internet connection

Googled this but can’t find an answer. I get intermittent loss of internet connection, mostly every few days but sometimes 2 or more times a day. Usually - maybe 6 times out of ten- it happens overnight, but also eg when watching a movie on Apple TV. The WiFi continues to work and I can get the internet back by logging into the router and rebooting it. It has been a problem on 3 different routers. Currently on the Sky 2 hub. Because a reboot always works I suspect the issue is internal... Read more ..read more

Can I keep one of my existing FTTC lines when FTTP installed?

Its an old question I know but if I can explain...... 12 months ago I took the option of having a second line enabled for the purposes of having 2 independent FTTC lines. One we use for the family entertainment / general wifi / streaming etc. The other we use as a dedicated hard-wired only PC gaming line. I cant be the only one One line is with BT and the other with Now. The Now one is out of contract, the BT one has another 12 months. The BT one is internet only; no telephone service...
