Oh blog, it has been too long.  We are in the middle of planning a restoration and renovation of our old home and its time I bring you in on the process!   Let’s start at the beginning.  We manifested this house.  Without a shadow of a doubt, every step surrounding the securing of our magical home makes me believe in higher forces at play.  Just saying.  The home is recorded as built in 1904 although it mysteriously showed up in a photo at the town historical museum dated 1890.   Sitting up on the top of a hill overlooking t ..read more

Enter, my toughest client to date: my 9-year-old daughter, Belle. What does a designer normally do when hired by a client who does not share their color palette or aesthetic? The answer (for good reason) is run!  In this case, however, my client is my sweet, darling daughter and her bedroom in our new home is completely empty. If you have been here for a while (hello again and thank you!), you might remember that Belle’s bedroom in our last house was the quintessential, pretty in pink, little girl’s bedroom.  At that time, this mama could handle Belle’s ..read more

Rad Resource: Jacobson

I had only lived in New England one month when my mom (an interior designer herself) swept me away to the magical world at Jacobson, a wholesaler for Florists & Designers.  Located in the city of Boston, this vast store with endless aisles are filled to the brim with ribbons, realistic faux florals, vases, vessels, and more. As a decorator, the store is enchanting.  Year round this is my go-to resource when I am ready to add the final touches to my clients’ homes.  (Florist and designer friends, this is your cue.  You need this store in your life.)  ..read more

Three years ago on July 1st I left a really beautiful life behind in San Diego. My mom used to refer to that space in my life as “our Camelot”. I had a thriving 12-year old wedding planning business, a beloved historic house sitting on a hill above the city, THE best friends, and an amazing town filled with good food and a full life. We walked away from it all. To start brand new. In a state and town my husband and I had never lived. Our fixer-upper Victorian in South Shore Boston + the beacon of light that was my family calling me home and a quiet but strong whisper to change career paths…pus ..read more

Welcome to the King of Christmas Parade of Trees Blog Tour!  Thank-you for joining me after viewing Rachel’s magical tree at Cherry Street Blossoms. You’ve landed yourself in my old Victorian home just outside of Boston.   Come take a peek at my first ever fake tree, and find out why I am now a convert.  I’ve been longing for a flocked tree.   As a designer, the wintery blank slate of a flocked tree is a perfect inspiration to showcase a color palette.  This very tree inspired my whole holiday theme.  I love pastel versions of xm ..read more

10-day Kiddo’s Bath Refresh

I had one of those wonderful work days when you sit at your desk in the zone, forgetting to eat lunch, refill your water or take care of basic human needs. After a long day in my 3rd floor nook I walked downstairs to find my hubs had gotten a wild hair. Our twins’ ugly eye-sore of a bathroom looked even worse for the wear. Plumbing was sticking willy-nilly out of the walls, large holes were in the flooring, and a swatch of dark paint smeared against the old chipped paint. With a huge smile on his face he said “let’s do it!”. So with the challenge to design it all that very day, and spend under ..read more
