Built in 1897 at a cost of £20,000 to the designs of architects Sinnott, Sinnott & Powell who were
responsible for a number of Roman Catholic churches in the North West.
Some details from taking-stock.org;
[...]a prominent building with a tall tower and a large presbytery, which forms part of the overall
composition. Apart from the tower and the porch, the exterior of the church is plain and austere,
faced in harsh red brick and without ornamentation. The interior has an impressive...

Heapey Pumping Station
Recently, I went for a week away to the Lake District. Perfect excuse to have a look at some pins on the way there. A few weeks before I went, I spent many an hour searching for pumping stations along the route I would be taking. Marked them all and made the plan. The majority aren't worth mentioning, but this one was a surprise. Heapey pumping station is marked on maps as far back as 1888. It shows the station with an overflow well nearby also. As...

1. The History
Originally build for local iron works owner Benjamin Smith in 1841, the Lodge passed through several owners before it came into the ownership of A. William Byron circa 1881 who was instrumental in seeing through the Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway Bill through parliament. The lodge then sold in 1919 for £2,000 to tenant Mr D Turner.
Then the history gets a bit sketchy. However, having been a pub/restaurant for a number of years. It included...

This place has been posted a few times but is one we've wanted a look at ever since the first report appeared so had to check it out while in the area.
There really isn't much history on this place, it appears to have been used as a vehicle maintenance depot for highways vehicles. Most of the records and notes on site date to around the 90's. There are plans for a housing development on site online.
While it doesn't seem like this place would be very interesting at first glance the decay...

Holla,
Had a nice little trip over to Banstead the other night with a couple others to see this place. Nursing homes are interesting ones for the thoughts of what kind of lives the ederly had at their time there and their lives beforehand. So much history in one place. Would quite honestly love to sit down and have a chat with a few of the people who lived/worked there to find out more. It's a fairly trashed one but still a lot leftover to see. Found a weird part to this place...

Brislington War Room
The Brislington War Room is located to the rear of a small government estate housing social security offices and the local driving test centre in Flowers Hill, Brislington, 2 miles south east of Bristol city centre. It is built to the standard two level design and semi-sunken, i.e. the lower level is below ground. Within a few years of opening in the early 1950’s, the regional war rooms became obsolete and the building was rented to Avon...

1. The History
The Hong Kong Central Hospital was a former not-for-profit, general private hospital, located in the Central area of Hong Kong Island. The building that housed it was built to the designs of Yuan-Hsi Kuo, one of China's first-generation of formally trained architects. The seven-storey building was based on a reinforced concrete frame construction and built in the Modernist or International Modern style and undoubtedly influenced by Germany’s Bauhaus school of art...
