HI everyone, I actually stumbled upon this site as I have a book coming out at the end of this year about little-known British murders, one of which took place at Springfield Hospital. The site is now being redeveloped, and unfortunately is out of bounds to visitors. Enjoying exploring all things derelict with you all here ..read more

Brackla in Bridgend was originally a Royal Ordnance factory and had 8 Underground bunkers built to store amuunitions, Known as the 8 X's. In the 60's 2 of the 8 X's were taken over by the Home Office and converted into Nuclear Bunkers to act as the Regional Government HQ for Wales. (RGHQ). The two nuclear bunkers were modified to have Nuclear Proof entrances and the ammunition tunnels changed to accomodation and offices. ... Read more ..read more

Anti-Aircraft Operations Rooms (AAORs) or Gun Operations Rooms (GORs) as they were known during the second world war owe their origin to the Air Defence of Great Britain (ADGB) organisation of the late 1930’s. (The name change occurred during the 1942 re organisation of AA Command with both titles being in common usage). Later the former AAOR became the main BT war headquarters for Wales. The distinctive curved glass galleries were stripped out, and new dormitories, air conditioning... Read more ..read more

Did you miss me? Well I'm back! (finally) Not what I was expecting to post but hey, life is full of suprises. I drove past here when driving to go and urbex a zoo which is now sadly fenced up but it's a game of snakes and ladders. So we have this pub with lots of things inside and left behind instead. History: The site was opened in the 18th century as a coaching inn and would offer all the essentals that a pub would. From beers to soft drinks to pub snacks e.g: peanuts and crisps. However... A huge loss to the town when this factory closed back in 2022. It was one the biggest employers with people losing their jobs when this sire and a couple of others closed down and moved premises. A fire was deliberately started back in February with a local teen arrested for arson. Alot of the buildings are inaccessible so jot alot of internal photo's. There is security on site although I didn't bump into them. The building I really wanted to get inside was inaccessible, and had been... Read more ..read more

A very old, dilapidated farmhouse. Structurally not very safe. I can imagine this was a beautiful home many years ago. Outside are some stunning farm buildings with lovely brick work. There was a buisness trading from the yard at some point although I'm not sure what. Some beautiful cast iron fireplaces remained in the farmhouse . If anyone knows what what the agricultural tanks are let me know, I'm guessing Corn storage, maybe? It was very dark in places, so a torch used , so pics not so... Read more ..read more

After finding posts and photos on this website regarding the BBC Tatsfield Receiving Station, I realise that I have become part of the Derelict Places history. As I started work there when I was 19 years of age in 1966, leaving in 1969, I am likely to be one of the few people left alive who could give any personal account of day-to-day life there. A gentleman named Steven Connelly, who was considering writing a book, posted on this website that he had sent a FOI dated 26 January 2009 to... Read more ..read more

Deliverence without the banjos North Wales

I came across this little lot driving the back roads of North Wales, at first I just thought it was a dumping ground for old vehicles. I’m convinced it isn’t. There was no one around for the hour or so I was busy mooching. Problem is when one is rubber necking you sometimes forget to watch where you are stepping ( hence why I’m always going arse over tit when there are brambles about: I digress). I was just a mere split second from disturbing a couple of snakes having an alfresco session... Read more ..read more
