HUGE bald patch. my wedding is in 12 days!!! the derm said it is caused by stress. we are in the home buying process AND wedding in 12 days AND i’m in an advanced masters program AND i’m a kindergarten teacher so these last few weeks are always the worst. i honestly thought i was fine at managing my stress. i guess not… i did steroid shots ..read more

Is it possible to have alopecia without an autoimmune disorder? I've been losing hair all over my body the past year and a half, both miniaturizing and thinning everywhere, but all my blood tests keep coming back completely fine. submitted by /u/_kintarooe [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Both photos are the same spot from today. I first noticed the bald circle about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I trimmed my beard to try to blend it in, but it's still noticeable. This is all new to me. submitted by /u/Comfortable_Image_50 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I only had 15% as a kid and only on the forehead, so just wore headbands, Now its appeared again much more and very sporadically, so my question is... I don't know how head shaving works with alopecia (Its about 25% at this early stage, worse every week) I would like to shave it all off. My question is do I shave like a man with a machine at a barber at 0? Or wax (that doesn't sound right). submitted by /u/capricabuffy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is this AA?

I think I have always had little body hair on both my arms and legs. I just usually shaved my legs every so often so I didn't pay too much attention. Since I got Long Covid I haven't had the energy to consistently shave, and now the patches I have on my legs are very very clear, and I started to wonder. Could this be AA and something to get checked out by a derm? submitted by /u/squaretriangle3 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Scared to take tofacitinib, need advise

I (26M) have been dealing with Alopecia Areata pretty much all my life. It used to clear up on its own, but since I started working, it's just gotten way worse. Now, I've lost about 70% of my hair, eyebrows included. The stress from work definitely isn't helping. I tried corticosteroids, and they worked for a bit, but the side effects were brutal—I ended up with a moon face, and once I started to ease off the meds, the hair loss just came roaring back. My doctor has now suggested I try tofacitinib, but honestly, I'm freaked out about the side effects I've read about, like blood clots, TB, and ..read more

Looking for your opinion

Hello everyone, I went to see a doctor about 3 months ago after noticing a patch one month earlier. My doctor advised me to simply wait and see as I only had the one and it was of a fairly small size. Since then my patch has gotten bigger but grey hairs have been appearing and so regrowth seems to be coming along nicely. I was just looking for your advice here, do you think regrowth is indeed coming along? Should I be concerned about the growth in size since then? If you have any advice or anything I’d really appreciate it. Thank you! submitted by /u/Lucem122 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
