Just letting pre pods know, podiatry is not a lucrative field if you want to make minimally 200K a year. the income to debt ratio is downhill and I am not even sure why most pods on here is not discussing this topic.400K in debt to make 150K isn't worth it guys. Just a warning as I am sure this discussion will be locked to hide the honest truth of this profession. THINK OF ANOTHER CAREER FIELD TRUST!!! all you have to do is search of current jobs on indeed pay is horrible ..read more

What made the 3 year surgical residency a requirement?

Just hear me out. I've been looking into podiatric medicine for almost a month. It sounds like the surgical volume of practice for each podiatrist can vary greatly. Some do lots of surgery, some almost do none, some are in some variance in between the two polar sides of that spectrum. Why make the three-year surgical residency a requirement, why isn't it optional? Is the foot and ankle surgical needs of the US that high? I'm sorry if that sounds like a weird or foolish question... Hi, I was gratefully to have recently been accepted to my top podiatry program recently, however am currently sitting on some MD/DO decisions as well as MD/DO waitlists… I just wanted to see if paying a deposit and signing the matriculation agreement would be binding in the case I choose to go somewhere else ..read more

Is a bachelor’s degree really important? Has anyone been accepted without it? I noticed that there is only 90 hours required. So far, I have been offered 2 interviews. I have acknowledged the fact that I won’t complete my bachelor’s degree if accepted via email before being offered the interviews. I have a pretty high GPA and made As in most of my pre-reqs. I have a 3.75 cGPA and a 3.6- sGPA. I am very passionate about podiatry and I don’t see the point in waiting any longer just to complete... Read more ..read more

Let me just say one thing to those thinking they should go to podiatry school. Do not. I've been practicing for years and I ask you to crunch the numbers for a second. you can expect possibly to make as much as a fast food manager with twice the workload, 10x the stress and 300,000x the debt. if your applying to be a "doctor" you are being prideful. that is all ..read more

MCAT came back, haven't taken physics or biochem, got a 500. sciGPA is 3.42, cGPA is a 3.02 I believe I want to go into this field but keep having hesitations. I don't want to go to be an internist, or FM doc, or pediatrician which it seems most students from DO schools go into. Furthermore, I doubt I'd be even able to match into a surgical residency if I went to traditional medical school. That being said, I suppose it isn't possible to take a year off and increase my cGPA, retake the MCAT... Read more ..read more

MCAT is in a few weeks. I'm considering backing out. I'm totally lost in my life right now and none of this seems worth it. Talk about return on investment, I've been in school forever, the whole time I've been depressed, lonely, no friends, nothing. I have no money and I'm trapped. This whole country is a scam. I don't think I have a future ..read more

Online Pre-Req

I want to matriculate in the fall, I don't have physics 1 or 2 completed yet. My original plan was to take both back to back in the summer, but I can't find when programs start, so that is probably cutting it too close. I'm currently enrolled in physics 1 for the Spring, my university only offers summer physics 2 in the latter half. Does anyone know if I can take physics online as a pre-req? Particularly for these schools: ACPM BUPM KUSCPM UTRGVSPM LECOM's medical school accepts online... Read more ..read more
