After going unbeaten in their first nine games of the season, Liverpool began to stutter as they entered the autumn. Since their unbeaten run ended away to Manchester United in mid-September, they had won just two league matches. The Reds sought to get back on track hosting Ron Greenwood’s West Ham United at Anfield, who had seen a lot of changes since we last saw them. Watch the video here. The Champions League returned to the Stade Bollaert for the first time in twenty years. Lens started the season poorly, managing just one point from their first five matches, but seem to be getting back into form, drawing in their group opener against Sevilla then beating Toulouse and Strasbourg. Franck Haise made three changes to the side that won against Strasbourg, with Adrien Thomasson, Salis Abdul Samed and Przemyslaw Frankowski replacing Angelo Fulgini, Andy Diouf and Ruben Aguilar. Lens continued in the 3-4-3 formation they nearly won Ligue 1 with last year. Fresh from thrashing Bourne ..read more

Having only won one and drawn one in fourteen games against Jürgen Klopp, history wasn’t exactly on Eddie Howe’s side. Howe sent out the same side that lost to Manchester City the previous weekend, lining up in a 4-3-3 shape. Klopp made two changes to the team that beat Bournemouth. Wataru Endo made his full debut, with Cody Gakpo returning to the frontline as Diogo Jota dropped to the bench, while Joël Matip replaced the injured Ibrahima Konaté at centre-back. Liverpool set up in their usual 4-3-3 formation. The match started slowly; the ball bouncing back and forth in midfield with few chan ..read more

It’s likely Bournemouth weren’t keen on a return to Anfield after getting thrashed 9-0 there last season. Andoni Iraola made one change to the side that drew their season opener against West Ham, with Antoine Semenyo replacing David Brooks. Bournemouth lined up in a 4-2-3-1 shape. Jürgen Klopp stuck with the same team that drew the opening match against Chelsea. Liverpool set up in their usual 4-3-3 formation. Bournemouth made a positive start, taking the lead just three minutes in. With Trent Alexander-Arnold tucking inside, Jaidon Anthony would follow him into the middle too, with Philip Bi ..read more

This post is available in video format here. Each team’s starting eleven showed why they were willing to drop over £100 million on Felipe Caicedo, with a defensive midfielder nowhere to be seen. Jürgen Klopp set up Liverpool in their usual 4-3-3 formation, with new signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai alongside attacker Cody Gakpo in midfield. Mauricio Pochettino is the latest coach tasked with balancing out Todd Boehly’s shopping spree. Chelsea lined up in a 3-4-3, with box-to-box midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher partnered together in midfield. Chelsea initially ..read more

Despite a poor Easter period, Liverpool were still in with a chance of winning the Football League.
