Firefox doesn't virus check downloads with Microsoft Windows Defender?

It has recently come to my attention that Firefox does not virus check downloads when the user is using Microsoft Windows Defender as their virus checker. I’m not quite sure how this is even possible given that MS Defender apparently intercepts writes to the filesystem at a low level, and I had blindly assumed this to be the case but was recently shocked to find a file that containing a (false positive so no harm done) virus was detected by Chrome via MS Defender but not by Firefox. I confirmed this with the EICAR files - again, Chrome/MS Defender caught them, Firefox didn’t. I have talked to ..read more

Firefox Freezing

Why does Firefox freeze / lock up when an intermittent network drop occurs? It never recovers and must be killed by Windows task manager. Newer versions have not helped. I have this issue on numerous different installs of Windows 10 and 11 computers (work and home), and can reproduce it easily. Antivirus is not an issue either since some of the computers have none on them. About 1 out of 10 times it will recover, but rarely. The computers on wireless networks are very susceptible to this. It is my favorite browser, but this is getting to the point of not using it anymore, especially if I have ..read more

Hello, I’m not sure if it’s right place to ask/report such thing but I have a problem in Firefox when I try to save emails as .eml files. Everything is fine when filename doesn’t contain any dots but if it does… geez, just look at file extension Firefox tries to save as. eml1123×278 40 KB Definitely it shouldn’t be like that as in Opera I don’t have such problem (I have other problems though, lol). 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Hi I’ve now made my own Firefox - with “Firefox for Desktop” on Windows. I made a few adjustments here (names, etc.). Unfortunately, I haven’t found any instructions on how to run this browser on other devices. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance, schBenedikt 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Userscript changes behavior in rythm with Beta release cycle - Why?

So I have this userscript that changes its behavior about every two weeks. Once in the middle of the release cycle and once when a new major version of Firefox Beta is released. What’s up with that? What happens two weeks into the Beta development cycle that could explain this? Are there two different internal builds that the Beta versions are built from? 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Windows Firefox. Too often when I’m working on something and open a page, FF says I have to update first. Don’t be more annoying than Microsoft. Limit required updates to 2 times per yer. 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

Document.documentElement.scrollTop = “a saved postion” can't be finished in lazy-loading list

I have a lazy-loading list with a function scrollEvent. window.addEventListener(“scroll”, this.scrollEvent); When I scroll down, the scrollEvent will load more items. I just wanna remain the position when I return to this list from a preview page. I saved the position when I leave the list. this.scrollTop = document.documentElement.scrollTop || window.pageYOffset || document.body.scrollTop; when I return to this list, I use: document.documentElement.scrollTop = “the saved postion.” In firefox and safari, it only executes the scrollEvent twice. It can’t reach to “the saved postion.”. But In chr ..read more

Search suggestions with private search engine

I setup a personal SearxNG server behind authentication, which needs cookies to validate the session. When using normally through the browser, it works, but when trying to test the search suggestions on the address bar, I was getting access denied on the server. I tracked the issue due to Firefox not sending cookies to the search suggestion endpoint, and discovered that it’s intentional: bugzilla.mozilla.org 1510281 - Use a private and isolated context for search suggestions VERIFIED (mak) in Firefox - Search. Why Firefox never added support for Token Binding?
Mozilla Discourse » Firefox Development

Just curious why Firefox never added support for token binding even Chrome had it and they removed it since other browsers never added it. Using fido hardware keys gives a false sense of protection because session cookies can still be stolen and used. 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more
