Hey all, I’m a PGY2 resident looking into applying for Glaucoma fellowship and was wondering if anyone had insight into how competitive (specifically from a research standpoint) the field is. I’m at a mid-tier program and have minimal research (1 publication) at the moment. How practical is it for a neurologist to practice ophthalmology in the office? Some neuro-ophthalmologists did their training as a neurologist then did a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship. This is not too unusual. Interesting case and would appreciate some thoughts. 87-year-old female, lives alone. History breast cancer, Stage 3 CKD, hypothyroid (admit TSH 12, T4 0.9 which is low end normal), HLD, Paroxysmal Afib (current EKG sinus), glaucoma.
