This painted rock tutorial features two of my favorite things: butterflies and glitter!
My local rock painting group had a painted rock challenge this month where we were asked to paint and hide rocks with butterflies on them for the hide and seek rock game.
Of all the butterfly rocks I painted, this one is by far my favorite!
I used my favorite glitter paint called Glitterific together with a technique I developed for applying temporary tattoos to painted rocks.
I ended up with a sparkly, galaxy style butterfly painted rock and you can make one, too!

To capture this quintessential fall scene on a painted rock, I created a tree outline and then filled it in with red, orange and yellow leaves.
To make it more interesting, I also painted leaves falling to the ground and covered the base of the tree with fallen leaves.
This is a great beginner project to learn how to use 3D paint on rocks. This rock painting project is also ..read more

The kids are back in school, pumpkin spice is back in the coffee shop and I am ready for fall painted rocks!
Nothing says "fall" to me more than multicolored fall leaves -- so of course I wanted to capture the essence of fall with pretty orange leaves on rocks.
The first of my fall rock painting ideas was a bare tree with falling leaves.
For this next rock painting project I wanted the look of a fallen leaf stuck to a rock.
To get this look, I use a technique similar to the one taught by Flower Patch Farmhouse on how to paint fall oak leaves to paint a solitary leaf ..read more
