Just purchased an '04 XT with about ~98k, automatic trans. Looking to make some upgrades to add ground clearance and additional off-road capability, but nothing crazy. Here's my current list of intended upgrades, and then some questions: 2" ADF lift (strut top spacers and trailing arm spacers) King or rallitek OEM height springs wheels - Black Rhino rumble - 15x7 tires - general grabber AT2 215/75/15 questions: 1) are the upgraded springs a worthwhile mod? I've read conflicting things... 2004 Forester XT project ..read more

Hello all, First post but have been lurking for a bit. I have a used 2012 Base model I bought with overlanding in mind. Just recently had to have the engine replaced as a rod bearing flew through my small block. So i just picked it up last week finally new to me engine from my local subaru dealer and a bunch of other updates that needed to be done that were not taken care of by previous owner. It now has 117k on it with new engine. I know the transmission will be the next point of failure... 2012 - Starting Overland Project Finally ..read more

Hello everyone, I found a good second hand deal for primitive racing skidplates with 3/16 stinger tail option, but this is for a Fozzy from 09-13. Mine is a 14-18 model. Can I install this on my car, or modify it to fit? The person that bought it never installed it, and the price is really good ..read more

2023 - Wilderness - What are some ways to protect the hitch wiring when offroading?

I'm cross-posting this from Reddit because I was reminded about this forum after I asked the question there, and I'm hopeful I'll get more useful responses than the ones I've already gotten: I had the OEM hitch installed by the dealership (But my question is relevant to non-OEM installs and non-Wilderness editions, too) and I'm concerned about the wiring when taking the vehicle offroad. As it stands right now, the wire harness comes down through the grommet below the spare tire and... 2023 - Wilderness - What are some ways to protect the hitch wiring when offroading ..read more

Ok I was getting a little bored with the 2020 Forester im even toying with trading it on a Ridgeline just for something different.. But the one thing ive always wanted to do is a relatively modest lift 1-2" and bigger tires. without looking into every post for every lift made and then tire sizes I will say what I have . I currently am totally stock other than 17" wheels/rims with some Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails on it. this is my Forester below. What id like to do(just using the rims I... 2020 - Premium - What fits lift+tire size with said lift ..read more

Hello! We recently purchased a 2023 Forester to replace our aging CR-V as a commuter/long distance travel vehicle. Chose it because the RAV4s were too hard to get and Subarus were available quicker and at a cheaper price. Living in Colorado now, I've been wanting to do more trips into the mountains so I'd like to get some opinions on what I really need in an off-road vehicle. I currently drive a Toyota Camry, which works great for commuting but isn't an adventure vehicle. I don't have any... 2023 - New to Offroading Questions ..read more

Locking diff on a manual diesel

Hi, Saw this video on YouTube and it looked interesting. Does anyone know of a system that will tighten or lock the diff on an SJ manual diesel Forester? I spend a lot of time off road and while disabling the traction control helps and watching the screen for which wheel loses traction there are still small issues with the current diff. In mud or cross cornered you lose too much momentum at a critical time. It looks like a great modification rather than... Locking diff on a manual diesel ..read more
