Hello, I have 3in Eurowise lift kit with 1in subframe drop. While installing new rear control arms I had to relocate the level sensor link bracket to the same position on the new arms and it seemed right on the spot. After the install I got the running gear error everytime after 2-3min drive, dissapears when turn the car off/on. Scanned with VCDS: Code: Address 34: Level Control Labels: 7Lx-907-553-34.clb Control... T1 Suspension level adaptation with lift kit ..read more

Rethinking Spare Tyre Options

Hi everyone, I've seen a lot of discussion regarding how to carry spare tyres and where when towing (in the car or in the van, etc). One thing most people agree is that converting the hubs on the van to match the PCD on the Touareg is cost prohibitive. It occurred to me that a lot of aftermarket rims have 10 holes - 2 sets of 5 to cater for 2 different PCDs. It should be possible to get a combination that covers the van and car. I was wondering, why wouldn't you put such an aftermarket... Rethinking Spare Tyre Options ..read more

hi all touareg owners that love to use their touareg in proper way ''you know what I mean'' LOL so during these almost 8 years that I've got my T1 V8 ive been doing lot of off road driving around my country, but never had time to put proper underbody protection that is so important to avoid damage (been lucky so far with plastic ones) but few weeks ago local offroad club announced off roar expedition that would be very tough for any off road car and it was a very big risk of... Overview of installing OEM hitch bolt issue.

I have an OEM hitch sitting next to the plastic bumper cover I removed. I had bought 14mm bolt long ago. I discovered I had 12mm bolts with sleeves installed. It was a disappointment. Can I get input on the bolt from the accumulated knowledge on the sleeves? I am especially interested in has any one removed the sleeves and put in 14mm bolts? It looks like 8 oppurtunities to screw up the mounts. All the best, John ..read more

Community CAD drawings for skid-plate?
Club Touareg Forum » Off-Roading & Towing

How can we as a community create a CAD for a skid-plate free for everyone? Shipping across continents often cost more than the plates itself, so if we can go to our local steel-bender with a CAD, more people can protect their Touareg. Can we agree on a methodology on how to measure and draw this? 1 - Can existing mounting points be used? 2 - Measuring the distance between these points and the distance from ground will give us the coordinates? 3 - Any more ideas ..read more

2013 TDI - Death Valley Overlanding with Falken Rubitrek 265/70R17 on Canyon rims

I recently got the 17" Canyon rims for overlanding trips, and put on Falken Rubitrek 265/70R17's. Apart from looking a bit goofy, they did great off road, on gravel, sand and snow in Death Valley this weekend. No rubbing whatsoever. Also, no lift. They did have a few degrees of negative camber in the rear, since the alignment was left as is (for returning to the regular tires (255/55R18)). The Rubitrek's have a narrower surface profile, and thus less road noise compared to the Wildpeak's... 2013 TDI - Death Valley Overlanding with Falken Rubitrek 265/70R17 on Canyon rims ..read more

Beefing up the rear suspension
Club Touareg Forum » Off-Roading & Towing

Hello Touareg community, Does anyone have any advise on how to add more support to the rear suspension ? I don't necessarily want to add a lift. When towing, the rear end sinks down and I'd like to fix that. I just bought a camper trailer and will be towing it a lot. So I'd like the rear suspension to be able to carry the extra weight and not become a low rider. Less weight on the front wheels compromises the steering too. Any and all advise is appreciated. Thanks Brian ..read more

What a long process this has been - but now my BEAST has an OEM Hitch and Tow Module and wiring. Bought the hitch, tow module, and wires and tail plug complete off ebay. My #1 Touareg Tech at VW Dealer did the install. My plan is to get a 20-24 ft dual axel travel trailer to drag along on my adventures. Brake Controller - I bought a Takonsha Primus IQ with adapter wires from etrailer. My Touareg Tech tore into the dash looking for the wires to connect and install - There was no plug... Took the TReg to Hidden Falls Adventure Park in Marble Falls,TX. Was following their map and trying to stay in the park roads because I’m new to off-road. I didn’t try any of the 4? trails. The road kept getting harder but we just followed the Rubicons and p/u’s and the TReg just kept going. We got to the top of the mountain and as we approached the lookout it was funny to see all the people pointing and taking pictures of us. This...
