Purdue remains on its mission for NCAA tournament deep run
Purdue continued its trend of dominating second halves in this year’s NCAA tournament. After a somewhat shaky first half, Zach Edey put the team on his back finishing with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Edey frustrated Gonzaga big man Graham Ike who had outplayed Edey in the first half. Ike went on to commit four second-half fouls and foul out of the game. Purdue now is one win away from the illustrious final four which hasn’t been reached in 44 years.

Purdue Falls in Overtime to Badgers

Braden Smith was expected to play limited minutes but ended with 36 minutes of action. Smith seemed unphased by the leg injury suffered against Michigan State. Smith fouled out with 22 seconds left in overtime with a controverial offensive push-off while leading 75-74.

Purdue survives major injury scare to advance to semifinal
Purdue survived it’s largest injury scare of the season midway through the secone half when Braden Smith’s knee buckled while driving to the basket. Smith hopped off the floor on one leg and couldn’t put any weight on his right leg as he went to the lockerroom. Miraculously Smith not only was able to return to action later in the game.
Michigan State came back from a 12-point deficit to cut the score to 56-54 with under 2 minutes, but Purdue went on to score 11 points down the stretch to put the game away.
