We’ve been having a blast on the Niner RKT 9 RDO RS, and we’d like to give you a quick review on our experience so far. First, let’s talk a little about Niner’s naming convention as it can be slightly confusing. The RKT is Niner’s cross country bike. The regular RKT has 120mm of travel in the front and 90mm in the rear. We’ve been testing the RS, or race spec, which is their full on cross country race rig. How Do Bicycle Chains Work? A bicycle chain is actually a fascinating little piece of engineering. They are quite simple but made with extreme precision. Inner and outer plates are held together by pins. Between the inner plates, a roller rides over the pin. Check out the diagram below to get an idea of how these parts fit together. Why Do Bicycle Chains Break? Your bicycle chain goes through a lot of stress. It has to deal with dirt ..read more

Is There an Ideal Mountain Bike Tire Pressure for Everyone? Wouldn’t life be easy if there were a tire pressure that worked for every rider? Unfortunately, like most topics we cover on this blog, things are more complicated than that. Ultimately, what we want out of a tire pressure setting is a balance between maximum traction and a smooth ride while also being fast and preventing damage to the tire and rim. At the end of the day though, bicycles are still simple and some basic bike maintenance can keep you safe and your bike running smoothly for a very long time ..read more
