We had the uncommon opportunity to build up a traditional set of Campagnolo road wheels for a customer the other day. It was quite refreshing to handle hubs, a bundle of stainless steel logs in the form of DT Competition spokes, and Mavic Open Pro rims. Took me back to the last century before all of these pre-built wheel systems took over the market. Not that I am against new technology and all of its various benefits but for over 100 years traditional laced wheels were the rule and they still offer some unique ride characteristics that an entire generation of cyclists have never experienced ..read more

We love to work on classic bikes Steel, aluminum, and rubber with very little if any composites or exotic technologies.  Cleaning and overhauling all the bits I have to go back in the archives to remember working on the loose ball-bearing hubs and headsets.  Peeling the packaging off of the frame after Tom Kellog at Spectrum Bikes re-painted it was like uncovering a work of art.  A really fine example of a hand-made lugged steel frame and fork sporting one of the finest finishes in the industry.  A real pleasure to re-build and create a machine that is as much art as functi ..read more

Kevin wanted a dream machine that would be light, lively, and go anywhere his heart desires including where pavement might not go. Being the thoughtful person he is, he settled on the beautifully handcrafted Moots Psychlo-X cyclocross frame. After determining his appropriate fit utilizing his current road bike and double-checking his current riding position, we settled on a stock size for optimum fit offering plenty of options to adjust his position as time and application changed. Next was the soul searching involved in picking out components. Having his heart set on Campagnolo the only real ..read more

Mike and I have been working hard at transitioning from a traditional bike shop to our new model.  It took lots of work to prepare the building we will occupy on Rockland Farm north of Leesburg, VA.  We also had many chores to address on the property which is also under our care and oversight.  We have put quite a few projects behind us and we are excited to embark on our new bicycle adventure.  We should have a permit to make things official in the next week or so.  Currently, the service shop is 98% complete and just about ready to help you prepare for a hopefully ea ..read more
