Work continues apace at Deland for constructing the new SunRail station there. The crossing gates and control boxes have been moved and vegetation cleared making space for the second track and the island platform. On the other side of the tracks beyond the station head house a huge area has been cleared of vegetation for the new parking lot. I don;t have photos of that area. A truck driver who ignored height limits for I-95 struck a railroad bridge on I-95 last night, causing damage to the bridge that carries freight and NJT's Atlantic City line (near the Delaware River). The freeway is shut down as well as rail traffic. NJT has established a "bus bridge" between Philly-30th and Cherry Hill, but fortunately there's an easy all-rail alternative for many Philly-area passengers in the form of PATCO to Lindenwold. A new project just got funded with a PANYNJ $160 Million grant that will make the station much more useful for the general community while adding additional ways of accessing the airport. The project consists of building a concourse on the side of the track away from the airport and extending the foot overbridge to connect to it.
