I'm looking for a more natural option for flea/tick treatments for my poodle. I know the medications from the vet are super effective, but I'd like to at least try something natural first. We have year old bichon frise and am a bit confused as to the type of heartworm/tick/flea prevention to get. I read that heartworm is extremely rare so not sure if we should just get tick/flea medicine. I believe in the past we had nexguard but it's been a couple years. My dog had a ruptured anal gland 7 days ago and the vet had it flushed. The incision had 3 stitches. Since surgery day, a dark brownish scab formed over the stitched area, no discharge no pain on light touch now. My dog's behavior/sleep is totally back to normal, still wearing the cone. Was told by the vet that the stiches should be removed close to 14 days from surgery. This means the scab needs to fall off these few days but I don't see any signs of the scab falling. I have a small 10gal aquarium tank. My tap water is very hard, over PH 8 so I have to use filtered water that brings the ph down. This has been an issue for my cleaning and water changes and I thought that maybe I should get a cheap canister filter instead of a bucket so that the tank water would be filtered and put back into the tank when I am cleaning the gravel and that way only need to do one water change to put fresh water. Hey folks, my dog has anal gland cancer. Shihtzu 7 years old. It started a few months ago where we noticed a tumor on his anal gland and it got infected. We had to get surgery to get it removed and then noticed that it came back. We got another surgery. However since it started returning again the doctor advice that its cancer and needs chemo. My dog is currently going through chemo however the tumor is still there and seems to be getting bigger. The dr advised that the chemo should shrink the tumor. Yesterday i noticed our 10 year old would not eat any food. As well she was hardly moving. One of my friends helped me take her to the vet. She was extremely sensitive on the left her of her stomach toward the back. The vet could feel swelling. They sedated her to do more tests. After an X-ray blood work etc everything was fine but they could see was some massive growth that seems to have spread toward her tummy. They dont know what it is but do know it is an infection.
