While spring classes conclude for Purdue students, a lot are left wondering what there is to do over the summer. As a former sophomore heading into my junior year at Purdue, I hope I can help point out a couple ways to have a gratifying, yet productive summer. Summer Classes Taking classes during the summer can prove to be a great way to spend your time. For myself, summer was a great way to complete some of my general education requireme ..read more

Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) is Purdue’s largest orientation program. It takes place on campus during the week before classes begin. In my opinion, BGR is a “must do” for incoming students. It is a great way to make friends, familiarize yourself with campus, and get adjusted before the stress of classes ensues. There are so many reasons why BGR is amazing that it is impossible to describe them all in one blog but, I want to highlight the key reasons why BGR is beneficial for incoming students. Familiarizing Yourself with Campus As I mentioned earlier, when students participate in BGR, they ..read more

The Summit was a full day event and conference that allowed Purdue students to explore the aerospace community through engaging sessions, panels, and speed mentoring.     When I first visited Purdue with my family, I remember being worried while driving to campus. We kept getting closer, but there was no city or large town center popping up, just trees and fields. Coming from a big city near mountains, I was not sure about what there was to do or see around Purdue because there is not much within walking distance of campus. But during my time here, I have learned that even though West Lafayette may seem quaint and rural, there is always something to fill your time. Here is a list of some of the popular and lesser known things to do around cam ..read more

For many college students, one of their personal measures of success is to land an internship before graduating in order to gain work experience, helping expand their job market options. While most might envision a 10-12 week summer internship, there is an increasingly popular alternative offered at Purdue. A “co-op”, or cooperative education session, is another form of experiential learning opportunity that usually lasts longer than your typical internship.     Currently, Purdue sits at #9 in the country for co-ops and internships! Part of what makes Purdu ..read more
